Dangers of Milk

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Have you thought about how strange it is that humans drink milk past an infantile stage? No other animal does this. In addition, did you know that more than half of the human population is allergic to milk?

According to advertising campaigns, scientific journals and (probably) your doctor, you should drink milk daily. However, recent research has shown that milk might increase your risk of disease and damage your health.

About Milk Allergies

Some humans are fatally allergic to milk, but similar allergies exist for almost any food ranging from nuts to eggs and everything in between. With milk there’s a far more common allergy: lactose intolerance.

Lactose intolerance affects more than 60 percent of humans. It is caused by the absence of lactase, which is required to digest the primary sugar in milk, lactose. Humans stop producing lactase before the age of five, as naturally they should be done nursing by this time. When lactose goes undigested in your stomach, it ferments. This is the cause of the flatulence, diarrhea and nausea associated with lactose intolerance.

The ability to digest milk — continuing to produce lactase past childhood — is a genetic mutation that does not affect the majority of the population.

The Detriments of Milk Drinking

Despite what popular media would have you believe, the nutrients you receive from milk are available from other sources. Cows do not drink milk to get the calcium that ends up in their milk; they eat plants. Drinking milk can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and other serious health concerns:

Calcium Absorption

The notion that milk is necessary for strong bones and teeth is incorrect. Most milk Americans consume is pasteurized, making it unnatural and interfering with your body’s ability to absorb its calcium. Cow’s milk is not intended for a human digestive tract even in its natural state, it is only for baby cows. The same goes for any other type of animal milk. And human milk is only naturally intended for infantile children.

If you eat a balanced diet, you already get enough calcium without milk. Leafy green vegetables, nuts, seeds and root vegetables provide ample amounts of calcium. All vegetables, some fruits, some fish and most legumes also contain calcium….[Click Here To Continue Reading]
