6,631 Women Died From Vicodin and Oxycontin Overdose in 2010, Four Times More Than Heroin, Cocaine and Car Crashes Combined - CDC

Women in the United States are dying from overdoses of prescription painkillers at an alarming rate, with five times more deaths in 2010 than 1999, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.
A total of 6,631 women died from taking pills like Vicodin and Oxycontin in 2010, four times as many as died from heroin and cocaine combined, said the CDC Vital Signs report.
In 1999, 1,287 women died from prescription painkillers. Overdoses of these drugs killed almost 48,000 women between 1999 and 2010.
Is it something to do with our diet?

It’s really stupid that we are still using these drugs as a first choice in pain treatment. Marijuana can usually do it better, no one has ever died from it and it is much less addictive if it has any addictive potential at all.
