In both men and women, the average amount of sleep has been steadily decreasing and in recent years has dropped from 7-8 hours, to 6-7 hours a night. This may not seem like a big difference, but it does make a huge difference to your body!

The study also links long sleepers, or people who average nine or more hours a night, to a 38% increased risk in developing or dying from coronary heart disease, and a 65% increased risk of stroke. With sleep, as with most things, balance is the most important thing.

Another similar study found that a lack of sleep predicted higher blood pressure. For most people, the body uses the time you are asleep to lower blood pressure, and with a shorter amount of sleep there may not be enough time for this dip to take place.

      and the key cause for being sleepless was lack of nutrients, you would think a better diet would be more effective

      This article is factually incorrect.
      In fact, it makes some assumptions…
      “Honey contains glucose which aids in supplying our body’s cells with energy.”
      Glucose raises blood sugar!
      Insulin is required to then drive the ‘energy’ from the blood into the cells.
      Frequent ingestion of glucose, especially in the obese, creates Insulin resistance resulting in fatty liver syndrome.
      Your liver takes over when it sees that your blood sugar level is not dropping (insulin ineffective / not working) and takes down the blood sugar in a panic.
      Do not panic your liver. Do not ingest sugar!
      Especially not to convince yourself you will somehow “sleep better”…

      Himalayan sea salt, or Pakistani pit salt as it should be called is some nasty stuff. Chock full of flourides and nitrates and heavy metals….defo not on the good list…….better to just eat your greens.

      I don’t believe any of this. For one thing, it’s been proven that most of the honey you get in the supermarket is fake. It’s just a little bit of real honey added to a whole lot of sugar water. Same with the “Himalayan” salt, which even if it was genuine is full of fluorides.

      The following things work for me:

      Hops
      Garlic
      Doxylamine 30 mg
      Diphenhydramine 40 mg
      Captopril 25 mg
      Melatonin 3 mg

      You can pretty much mix & match them all with no deleterious effects and all except the Captopril can be taken with alcohol. Sometimes these all-natural remedies work, and sometimes they don’t and you need something stronger. DO NOT take Ambien because that can cause arrythmia after just 2 consecutive nights. Even one night of Ambien (Stillnox) will have bizarre effects, as in doing things in your sleep you don’t remember doing.
      That’s just my honest take on it, but I don’t recommend anyone else take any of the above mentioned substances.

      Will you pay the dentist bill for everyone that follows this advice? I mean seriously “hold salt and honey under your tongue and fall asleep”????

      Then when you pass out and you have your molars soaking in 25 grams of thick sugar for 7 hours?

      No thanks, goto bed an hour early, and if that’s too hard, have a couple beers or shots first, I recommend shots. Then you can brush your teeth and sleep like a baby.
