New Vision Eye Centre Dubai has introduced ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) into its treatment procedures

Genetic defects as well as circumstances such as old age are major contributors towards declining vision. If it is genetically linked, the signs crop up quite early on, whilst with the latter they only begin to manifest themselves much later on. Old age is a trigger of many health ailments however, and not just vision related issues. Myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism are some of the most common underlying causes for failing eyesight although there are quite a few options when it comes to treatment today thanks to highly improved technology, and advancements in education. Aside from options such as LASIK treatment in Dubai, patients can also turn to alternate treatments such as Toric lenses for example, or what is known as the ICL treatment or Implantable Collamer Lens, the newest introduction to New Vision Eye Centre’s remedies.

Understanding how ICL works is not complicated, purely because it works similar to regular contact lenses in many ways. One significant difference sets them apart, which is that the latter is usually placed on the surface of the eye whilst the ICL is placed within the eye. The lens in itself is soft and easily inserted into the required area as it is made of a flexible, biocompatible material. It does not replace the natural lens, however assists in better vision as it is specifically designed to target problems with short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism. It also comes with the added benefit of not having any permanent effect unlike LASIK in Dubai or worldwide.
