AASLD 2012-Galectin Therapeutics to Present New Data on the Treatment of Fatty Liver Disease and Fibrosis

NORCROSS, Ga.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct 26, 2012 – Galectin Therapeutics (NASDAQ: GALT), the leading developer of therapeutics that target galectin proteins to treat fibrosis and cancer, today announced that it will present at the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) Annual Meeting on November 12, 2012, in Boston, MA.

Preclinical data have demonstrated the ability of the Company’s lead galectin inhibitor compound, GR-MD-02, to prevent and reverse the formation of fibrosis in animal models of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), or fatty liver disease. The presentation at AASLD will extend understanding about the mechanism by which GR-MD-02 improves pathology in NASH, an important unmet medical need.
