China: Explosives thrown from vehicles, people run over in market, 30+ dead, almost 100 injured

Approximately 30 people are reported dead and almost 100 injured after explosions rocked an open air market in Urumqi in the Xinjiang region of northwestern China. The same region of China has seen an uptick in terror activity, most recently an explosion at a Xinjiang train station killed 3 and injured nearly 80 following the gruesome knife attacks resulting in 30 deaths and over 100 injured. Uighur Muslims have been the popular suspect in those attacks though not much is confirmed.

At least 31 people have been killed and more than 90 injured in a series of a dozen of explosions, which rocked the capital of China’s turbulent northwestern region of Xinjiang.The explosions occurred at around 8am on at an open market in Urumqi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Xinhua news agency reported.
Witnesses reported that the blasts began when two off-road vehicles plowed into crowds of people, and explosives were thrown from them. They said that one of the vehicles had exploded in the market, while there had been some dozen explosive blasts in total.
