61 Killed In New Year’s Stampede

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast (AP) — Authorities say at least 61 people were killed early Tuesday in a stampede following a New Year’s fireworks display in Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s commercial center.
State radio and a fire department rescue worker, who refused to give his name, said that many more people were injured in the Plateau district of Abidjan as the event ended about 4 a.m.
The worker said a crowd of thousands gathered at the Houphouet Boigny Stadium to see the fireworks and after the crowd became a crush in which people were trampled.

feet kill! there should be a law against feet!
Looks like fireworks and large gatherings of people don’t mix! We need to ban such events in the USA prior to the 4th of July for safety’s sake! It’s sad, but this example can’t be ignored! Fireworks are dangerous anyway!

Ban martial arts too. I’m not allowed guns since i shot a fellow who really needed shooting and the gun was his not mine. He didn’t even die as i only shot him a little bit and i’ll say it again; he brought the gun to a fist fight. As it turns out it is unwise to point any weapon at me, and not use it immediately, while you are within my reach.
