“MISSION ASSUMPTION”: Internet rumor and real danger.
 By: RK Cole, Jr.

A massive sinkhole disaster in Assumption Parish, Louisiana is now the subject of a rumor involving a misinterpretation of the phrase: ‘Mission Assumption’.

The Bayou Corne sinkhole, 1500 feet from the collapsing 1×3 mile Napoleonville Salt Cavern has resulted in mandatory evacuations of locals who fear the well containing 1.5 million barrels of liquid butane could explode. The presence of radioactive waste contained in the nearby salt cavern has caused speculation that the area has the potential of being an enormous “dirty bomb” disaster scenario which could result in the implementation of Martial Law and the cancellation of the upcoming Presidential election in November. As many as 25 other areas within 3 miles of the sinkhole have now reported bubbling from the ground.

In military terms, mission assumption is the process in which a unit assumes responsibilty for duties in a new assignment. In this rare case it seems the term is mistakenly being associated with Assumption Parish as being an actual mission in response to the disaster.

Amid what appears to be a media blackout on the subject are a recent number of videos posted to Youtube referring to a unit which was recently assigned to NORTHCOM as a member of Joint Task Force North responsible for responding to Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, Nuclear (CBRN)
disasters in the United States.

The 5th Army (US Army North) is a subordinate command under NORTHCOM and is commanded by Lt. Gen. William S. Caldwell. As of Oct 1st, the 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB) has joined the Defense CBRNE Response Force (DCRF) for the next year. The 40th ESB is tasked to provide communication support to other response teams in the event a catastrophic event occurs. Families of the 40th ESB were notified on Sept 21 to attend briefings on mission assumption and the Defense CBRN Response Force (DCRF) on October 4 and October 10.

The Youtube postings began Oct 1 when “makelectric” posted: “Alert – Sinkhole – NORTHCOM – Mission Assumption”. The poster linked to an LDS Freedom Forum post from July 2012 which mentions exercise “Vibrant Response 13.” The 40th ESB participated in Operation Vibrant Response 13 this summer after returning from Honduras in order to prepare for the new assignment.

On Oct 2 a video was posted by “idahopicker” who speculated that a false-flag event involving Assumption Parish is about to occur. The poster linked to a 3rd person, Henning Kemner (“countdownbackup”) who has a series of videos involving “doomsday” scenarios including the Bayou Corne sinkhole disaster. Kemner also believes this to be a false flag event in progress and encourages people to make CD’s of his videos in order to warn people of the impending catastrophe.

Although no US Army (NORTHCOM) operation “Mission Assumption” exists at this time, the potential for a far greater disaster is becoming a real concern. A recent report by CNN stated “if ignited, the butane well would release as much explosive energy as 100 Hiroshima bombs.” Lack of media attention to the disaster since mid-August has also fueled speculations that a horrific false-flag event involving the Assumption Parish sinkhole may occur.
