NAVY SHOOTING UPDATES: Suspect 'Secret Clearance,' 13 Dead Including Navy Reservist Gunman

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

WASHINGTON DC ON HIGH ALERT

3:45 A.M. EDT

Suspect Aaron Alexis had “security clearance.” He has been described as a nice guy with anger issues, “flashes of violence.”

He was discharged from the Navy Reserve in 2011 for a series of misconduct issues, a Navy official said, yet was then assigned to work at the Washington Navy Yard as a civilian contractor with a military-issued ID card, according to his firm’s chief executive. (Reuters)

“He did have a secret clearance. And he did have a CAC (common access card),” said Thomas Hoshko, CEO of The Experts Inc, which was helping service the Navy Marine Corps Intranet as a subcontractor for HP Enterprise Services, part of Hewlett-Packard Co(HPQ.N).

“We had just recently re-hired him. Another background investigation was re-run and cleared through the defense security service in July 2013.”

12:05 A.M. EDT

On Monday night, officials identified seven of the 13 victims killed: (13 including the suspect)

– Michael Arnold, 59
– Sylvia Frasier, 53
– Kathy Gaarde, 62
– John Roger Johnson, 73
– Frank Kohler, 50
– Vishnu Pandit, 61
– Kenneth Bernard Proctor, 46

Authorities will name the other five after notifying family members.

7:30 P.M. EDT

The FBI has ruled out a second shooter in the Navy Yard incident.

5:20 P.M. ET

Police say it is unclear if Alexis acted alone, according to the Washington Post. Authorities are still searching for another possible suspect.

The second suspect is described: a black man in his 40s with gray sideburns, wearing an olive-drab military-style uniform.

Military personnel records show Alexis spent nearly four years in the Navy as a full-time reservist, from May 2007 until discharged in January 2011, according to a summary of his personnel records released by Navy officials at the Pentagon.

“Those Navy officials said they were still researching whether Alexis had been employed as a defense contractor or a civilian employee of the Navy, and were uncertain if he was assigned to work at the Navy Yard.”

(They should ask all-knowing NSA, right?)

Officials claim not immediately knowing the reasons for his discharge.

He had been awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal— both common awards for military personnel.

A family member says she had not heard from him in years.

Meanwhile, a relative of Alexis said she hadn’t seen him in several years.

“We haven’t seen him for years,” said Helen Weeks of her nephew in a telephone interview. “I know he was in the military. He served abroad. I think he was doing some kind of computer work.”

5:10 P.M. ET

As a full-time reservist from 2007 until January 31, 2011, suspected Navy Yard shooting gunman Aaron Alexis worked for the fleet logistics support squadron No. 46 in Fort Worth, Texas but his home of record was New York City, according to news reports. He had once lived in Seattle.

It was not immediately clear why Alexis left the Navy.

Multiple media outlets speculate that his exit was related to a gun-related arrest in 2010. (See arrest record below)

5:00 P.M. ET

Fort Worth Police report on Aaron Alexis, suspected gunman in Navy Yard Shooting, as published by NBCDFW:

On Saturday 09-04-10 at approximately 1849 hrs I, Officer M Medders 3835 working W237, was dispatched to an apt complex, Orion at Oak Hill Apts, at 2450 Oak Hill Rd in reference to a shots fired call. The details of the call stated “CP STS SHE HEARD A ‘POP’  & SAW SMOKE & DUST; NOW SEES THAT THERE IS A HOLE IN HER FLOOR & ANOTHER IN HER CEILING; BELIEVES SOMEONE JUST SHOT INTO HER APT; DID NOT SEE ANYTHING OR ANYONE; CP HAS MOVED AWAY FROM AREA WHERE HOLES ARE; CONTACT CP”. Upon arrival I met with the witness who was inside her apt and visibly shaken up.

She told that she was sitting in a chair when she heard the loud pop and saw the dust. She then saw that their was a hole in her floor just a couple of feet from where she was sitting while shredding papers and a hole in the ceiling. She told me that she believed someone had shot a bullet through her apt. She then told me that no one from downstairs had come up to talk to her and she had not gone down. She also told me that her downstairs neighbor ARR (Alexis,Aaron) has called the police several times on her for being loud however the police always said they didn’t hear anything and no action was taken. She said that several days ago Aaron confronted her in the parking lot about making too much noise. June told me that she is terrified of Aaron and feels that this was done intentionally. I then relocated to apt and attempted to make contact with Aaron 3 separate times by knocking on his door and I received no response.

Due to the fact that someone could be hurt I called FD for a possible forced entry however when FD arrived Aaron came outside on his own. I made contact with Aaron who informed me that he did have a gun and he said that he was cleaning it when it went off. He said that he was trying to clean his gun while cooking and that his hands were slippery. He told me that he began to take the gun apart when his hands slipped and pulled the trigger discharging a round into the ceiling. He said he was sitting on the floor facing toward the large couch in his living room. When asked why he didn’t call police or go check on the resident above him, Aaron said that he didn’t think it went all the way through since he couldn’t see any light through the hole. In regards to the noise he said he thought that people would just think it was a firecracker. I then asked why he wouldn’t answer the door when I knocked and he said that he thought it was just his upstairs neighbor and he didn’t want to talk to her because she is always making noise. While inside the apt I looked at the gun which was taken apart at this time. A gun cleaning kit was located next to the gun and the gun was covered in oil.

After investigating the situation, Aaron was taken to 350 W. Belknap and booked. A report was generated.

4:34 P.M. ET

Source says one gunman, deceased, had an ID from another man and that Aaron Alexis, 34, is a Department of Defense contractor, according to Fox News.

Alexis was once arrested for shooting into a neighbor’s apartment.

The woman, whose name is unlisted in a Fort Worth Police Department report, said she was “terrified” of Alexis, who had previously confronted her about making too much noise.

The woman, “visibly shaken” when questioned by police, said she believed the shooting was “intentional.”

When police confronted Alexis, (pictured below) he claimed that he was cleaning the weapon when it discharged. Alexis said he was cooking at the time and his hands were slippery as he “began to take the gun apart when his hands slipped and pulled the trigger discharging a round into the ceiling.”

The local district attorney subsequently declined to file charges against Alexis.

In another incident in early-July, a male roommate of Alexis’s called Fort Worth police to report his suspicion that Alexis “put unknown substance in gas tank to damage vehicle,” according to a July 5 report. This is a well-known tactic used by perpetrators targeting innocent people, “Targeted Individuals” (TIs). Many TIs say they belioeve their perpetrators have a connection with the Department of Defense.

The FBI is asking people to study the picture of the dead man (below) and issued a statement urging anyone with information about Aaron Alexis to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or https://tips.fbi.gov.

Account released of man dragged across street before chaos broke out:

“An eyewitness to the aftermath of Monday’s shooting at the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard described the chaotic situation to TPM, including a moment where she watched a wounded man being dragged away from the scene,’ reports TPMLiveWire..

Bettina Ramon, a 33-year-old employee at Calvary Women’s Services, said she arrived at 8:30 a.m. ET on the corner of M Street and New Jersey Avenue to catch a bus, half a mile away from the Naval Sea Systems Command building where the shooting took place. She initially didn’t pay attention to a few police cars headed toward the building. “That’s kind of typical,” she said.

But then the volume of police cars increased and another bystander told Ramon and others that shots had been fired. Little did Ramon know, she had arrived at the bus stop at the same time that the shootings reportedly started.

“Things just really picked up after that,” she said. “It’s kind of a blur. It was happening so fast.”

At some point, Ramon said she and some other bystanders at the bus stop saw a man being dragged across a street in front of a CVS pharmacy. At first, Ramon thought the man had suffered a heart attack until other bystanders deduced that he had been shot, based on reports from Twitter. After that, she tried to look away.

The wounded man, who was wearing khaki pants and a blue button-up shirts, did not appear to be a law enforcement officer. People were attending to him on the ground in front of the pharmacy, though Ramon never saw him taken away from the scene in an ambulance.

Ramon said she never heard any gun shots, nor saw anybody who appeared to be a gunman.

US Representative Colleen Hanabusa of Hawaiʻi, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement saying her thoughts are with the victims and their families of what she called a “senseless act.”

According to Hanabusa, the team at the Naval Yard provides logistical support to the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and critical services to Hawaiʻi’s sailors and marines. Rep. Hanabusa’s complete statement is as follows:

My thoughts are with the victims and their families, and I hope all those affected by this senseless act are able to find comfort during this difficult time. My office works closely with Vice Admiral Hilarides and his outstanding staff at Naval Sea Systems Command, who provide valuable logistical support to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and critical services to Hawaiʻi’s sailors and marines, and we are keeping them in our prayers. We will continue to monitor this tragic situation and explore solutions that will help improve security measures at our military installations. Our brave men and women in uniform, and our civilian personnel who work alongside them, put themselves in harm’s way to protect our nation and we must ensure we are doing all we can to protect them where they work.

They don’t have to do a gungrab when they get plenty mileage out of social conditioning. Killing people is “worth it” a la Madelyn Albright, if the PTB agenda moves forward. With the local schools in lockdown as a shining example, they can get social validation for draconian political measures.

For a spoilt and soft society, ‘peace and safety’ are the security blanket issues. Never mind corruption. as long as we’re safe.

Like many I am watching this on video live stream
They have this Navy guy saying he was talking to a fellow co worker when he (the co worker) gets shot in the head.

Ok the guy is calm, we can say well trained
BUT. there is no splash or splatter marks on his uniform, or cover.

So I find his statements questionable.
A head shot be it close range or from a distance, which the officer suggest, would have made a mess, and shouldn’t he have some splatter on him?

I would suppose if all the fired rounds where collected and the rifling grooves examined someone would have some explaining to do.
I doubt this is simply a false flag, Something more went on here. Something is missing, somewhere on that base.
