4. Over 25.5 percent of all new auto loans taken out in 2026 are for 84 months! 7-year auto loans are becoming more and more prevalent. Pretty sad.
5. The average lifetime interest of auto loans taken in 2026 are $9,938… which is up nearly $500 from last year!
6. Nearly 30 percent of all trade ins that took place in 2026 carried a negative equity!
7. The national average negative equity held per trade in this year was over $7,800!
8. The US total auto loan debt is at an all-time-high of 1.71 TRILLION dollars! Up about $60 Billion from last year!
9. We’re seeing record high 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day auto loan delinquencies within the US. Up 3 percent compared to last year’s record setting year!
10. We saw over 2.5M vehicle repossessions take place last year, we’re on track to surpass 3M by the end of 2026!
