Yes, CNN said birhters are “racists, kooks, freaks and lunatics” because, as Anderson Cooper says, “There is simply nothing to the story.” The “retraction”? Essentially, they had a picture of Lakin up when they said it, so they came back to say they didn’t mean to imply that HE is a racist, kook, freak and/or lunatic. In other words, please don’t sue us. For the record: Lakin is a racist, kook, freak and/or lunatic -OR- he’s a liar using this birther defense to avoid military service -OR- he’s remarkably ignorant of the loooooong history of failed attempts to use these types of arguments (Was George W. Bush really elected? Did Clinton have authority to send troops to Bosnia? Were Nixon’s tactics in Vietnam/Cambodia legal? etc.).
