Does the U.S. Constitution Need Amending??

Contact the author at PoliticsArePersonal (AT) Gmail (DOT) Com According to John Cogswell, manager of Campaign Constitution, the U.S, Constitution needs to be changed to limit the growth of government. Why? Our current House and Senate are too self absorbed and self serving to be interested in serving the best interest of the People.

Mr. Cogswell, recently interviewed on Fox News, suggests that we “change the Constitution through the States and not through Congress. Article V of the Constitution permits two thirds of the States to convene a Constitutional Convention and to thereafter submit the proposed amendments to the States for ratification either by state constitutional conventions or by their legislatures as determined by Congress.”

Ohio voters recently said “NO” to an Ohio Constitutional Convention. Some felt that it would leave us open to all sorts of negative influences, including union persuasions, big money and other political agendas. Mr. Cogswell writes in his website message, “The alarmists oppose the convention method because of the fear that a Constitutional Convention would open up their sacred document and result in changes to the Bill of Rights, the balance of powers or other important features of our republican form of government.” His answer is similar to the one I gave Ohio nay-sayers, “In order to overcome this risk, we have decided that the constitutional resolution to be presented to the Constitutional Convention should be determined in advance, approved in advance by the States and that the Constitutional Convention should be limited to that resolution. This would prevent the Constitutional Convention from considering all of the matters which give rise to the fears just described. In other words, it would limit the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Convention by agreement of the States to specified items.”

Ohio has the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission, an all appointed group of lawyers, judges, business persons and former politicians, that will be “reviewing and recommending” changes to the Ohio Constitution. I am certain there is no opportunity for bias, graft and undesirable or unintended harm possible to the taxpayers of Ohio within this group of “appointed”officials. Huh?

John Cogswell hopes to bring about changes to the U.S. Constitution to regain control and limit the far reaching, over spending federal government that can not control itself by leaving the Congress out of the decision making process. Has it finally become necessary for states to rise up and protect their taxpayers from the feds? Perhaps. The Campaign Constitution is looking for volunteers in every state. I urge you to visit Mr. Cogswell at http://www.campaignconstitution.com/ and read more about this movement. This could be your 2013 mission.

If you don’t think you are over taxed and under represented; you are either not paying taxes or you have more money than you know what to do with!!
