The American Idea

The Republican Party and by default the Conservative movement needs to decide; does it want to be become a regional ideological extremist party with mostly white people in it or does it want to be a mainstream political party that wishes to appeal to people of all colors, religions or creeds?

Let me be clear, I am not for sacrificing ideals or for pander to any sort of protected minority or any sort of particular lifestyle choice —- of which the very idea offends me as an American Conservative. However I do believe that the Republican Party and the Conservative movement has ideas which do appeal to the average working-classAmerican; like myself.

The idea of rule of law, the idea that one should be able to keep the rewards of hard work without being taxed to death. The idea that Government should not intrude into every last aspect of their lives. The idea that every American has the right to protect his or herself with a gun, without fear of being prosecuted or even persecuted for it. The idea that thelocal police should be there to protect and serve; not be a terrorist menace to the localcitizens.

The idea that America should protect its borders from unlawful entry; but provide for a legal means for those from foreign lands to enter. The idea of “Peace through strength” and not “rule of the world, by Military might.” The idea that the hand of peace and freedom be extended to those who truly want to share in this belief; but that the iron wall of liberty might would be shown to those who wish to advocate the fascist religious and political tyranny abroad.

The idea that if an American citizen should want to start a small business of his own; that he should not be taxed and regulated out of business or discouraged from even startingthat business due to the regulations and Governmental costs involved with doing so. The idea that all men, should be able to practice his or her religion peacefully, without fear of being branded some sort of domestic terrorist, by those who have issues with religion.

The idea that a man of deep personal religious conviction, should be able to express his or her objections to the other religions, without having to worry if someone wants to kill them or not — or whether some organization with a political and/or ethnic agenda will brand them dangerous.

The idea, that if a man or woman decides that religion is simply not for them; that they should be able to walk freely of religion without harassment or intimidation. The idea that a man or woman should be able to practice his or her lifestyle choice in the privacy of his or her home; without harassment by religious extremists who wish to impose some sort of Christian version of Sharia Law on the American people.

The idea that a farmer, who owns a small farm; should be able to produce goods for theAmerican people, without fear that the Government would actually come and raid his farm for some idiotic bureaucratic reason. The idea that large corporate farms ought not get preferential treatment over the small farmer, who simply wants to provide for his family and see to it that Americans have access to quality, natural, and chemical free, healthy foods.

The idea that every United States Citizen; whether Liberal or Conservative, Republican or Democrat or even Independent; black, white, Hispanic or any other racial background should not have to worry about whether or not a paranoid, fascist Government is spying on them or not.

All of these ideas are ideas unique to the American experience; and are outlined in our Constitution. Somehow or another, over the last 50 years; due to progressive indoctrination, have become quaint and sometimes considered offensive. This is what the Republican Party and the conservative movement needs to fight back against; and fight to restore these ideals to the American conversation.
