Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich Fired After Discovery of $1,000 Donation to Anti-Gay Marriage Proposition

The CEO of Mozilla, Bendan Eich, was fired the other day because pro-gay marriage activists discovered he had donated $1,000 of his own money towards keeping marriage between a man and a woman.  His donation was legal – it was his own money – but he lost his job because of it.  Liberals call this a “victory” while Conservatives are calling for a boycott of Mozilla, who makes the semi-popular Firefox web browser.

Had Eich donated $1,000 in support of gay marriage I doubt he would have lost his job.  Or had he donated $1,000 to Planned Parenthood it is likely he’d still be employed.

So why did Eich lose his job?

Liberals are much more vocal.  They take 10 voices and turn them into 1,000.

Conservatives are much more passive and less likely to speak out.

It has to do with how you see the world.  A Liberal sees a world filled with injustice and moral wrongs and must fight to change things.  Hence the appeal of Barack Obama’s vacuous “Hope and Change” slogan.

Conservatives don’t like to change or think that while things may not be perfect now changing them too much will make whatever you are trying to do worse.

 Liberals have been trying to get access to political donation lists because they seek to intimidate those who gave money.  It’s why they constantly go after the Koch brothers for speaking up even when they are 59th on the list of largest donors.

It’s about intimidation and multiplying your numbers through vocal protest.

Conservatives are victims of this because they do not react in the same way.

Eich’s mistake was taking a stand that is unpopular with those who would use whatever tactics they need to in order to win the debate.

If you silence your opponents you win the debate even if you do not have the strongest argument.

Conservatives are upset not because Mozilla decided to fire an employee and not have the Government interfere but because intimidation was used to do it.

Eich should have realized – if he hasn’t already – that taking a stand against the herd might cost him his job.

The point is to silence critics and therefore make everyone believe the argument has been won.  We see similar tactics used for things like “global warming” or gun control, abortion, etc…

The anti-gay marriage bandwagon is not going to be a successful one for Conservatives because if two consenting adults want to marry, they should be allowed to do so.

Conservatives need to start getting vocal, standing up for themselves, boycotting companies with which they disagree, and making their “silent majority” status known.  If they continue to stay silent then we are doomed to letting a vocal minority run the show.
