ISIS militants are carrying out atrocities as they lose control of their territory in northern Iraq

A nine-month-old baby boy was among the victims of the atrocity was which was carried out near the north-westerern Iraqi town of Kirkuk.

They were then burned alive in front of other displaced civilians.The horrific killings appear to be part of renewed campaign of brutality by ISIS thugs as they begin to lose their grip on vast swathes of their territory.

Kirkuk has been liberated from ISIS, also known as Daesh, but the terror group still holds areas of the surrounding countryside.

Local media said militants had also killed a teenager and a former police officer in the in al-Rashad area 40-miles south of Kirkuk

The violence comes as more ISIS militants flee the town Mosul as Iraqi forces continue to make advances in the town.Iraqi lieutenant-general Abdul Ghani al-Assadi said most ISIS commanders that stayed in Mosul had been killed in battles with government forces.

He said the fight to take the western side of Mosul, which remains under the jihadists’ control, should not be more difficult than the one on the eastern side which was now mainly under government control.
