Germany: Man Rampaging With Knife in Cathedral Shot by Berlin Police

“Based on what we know so far, we have no information that the suspect in any way had a terrorist or Islamist motive,” a police spokesman said.

They say that after every attack, so it is hard to take it entirely seriously. If German authorities, and authorities all over Europe, weren’t so quick to deny that obvious jihad attacks had anything to do with Islam, it would be easier to believe them when they make statements like this. The problem is also that there weren’t nearly so many knife rampages in Germany as there are now before the massive influx of Muslim migrants. One almost might think there was a connection, but of course it would be “islamophobic” to think that.

German police shot and wounded an Austrian man “rampaging” at Berlin Cathedral on Sunday after he wielded a knife and was “verbally aggressive”, officials said.

“Shortly after 4pm police shot at a rampaging man at Berlin Cathedral,” police said in a tweet. “He was wounded in the leg.”

Officials said the man was 53 years old, but did not identify him. Armed officers were seen cordoning off the entrances to the landmark in the heart of the German capital.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone else was hurt in the incident at Berlin’s main Protestant cathedral, one of the city’s top tourist attractions….
