Wife of Congresscritter Demands Free Mental Health Therapy

A government that meets all of our needs is a government that never stops expanding explosively, because that is what happens to our concept of what we need when everyone else picks up the tab. For example, Amanda Cunningham, wife of congresscritter Joe Cunningham (D-SC), is outraged that her taxpayer-subsidized healthcare does not pay for her to bleat to a shrink about her problems at some extravagant hourly rate.

“I’m gonna have a little bit of a rant here on social media because I think this is important,” she said on her Instagram story last week. “I’ve been going over my not-a-bill bill here from Blue Cross Blue Shield, and realizing that once again, all of my mental health therapy sessions are denied, in addition to all of our marriage counseling sessions.”

Cunningham gets an ObamaCare “gold” plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield. He has to pay about a quarter of his premium, unlike some of us who pay his salary and have to pay 100% of our premiums.

“It’s just mind-blowing to me that these basic well-known needs, that mental health is health care, are still being denied, that we’re still fighting for these absolutely basic things, it’s unbelievable to me,” she said.

Who knows what will be regarded as “absolutely basic” next?

If forcing other people to finance your medical needs is a human right, then so is forcing someone to finance your psychological needs. Watch for psychiatrists’ and marriage counselors’ rates to skyrocket like college tuition as Big Government doles out ever-increasing subsidies.
