starting on Jun 26, 1967) ???? Dates dont make sense.

Above is Incorrect unit, It is Co C, 4th Bn, 47th Inf, 9th Inf Div.

Laura: The niece I spoke with was Authrean but the phone number I have for her is a California number and I had an address for her in Palm Desert.  She is the daughter of John’s sister, Wessie Mae (which is the name given to me by the cemetery as the NOK for the mom, Cellie).  The headstone for John Earl said “loving brother” so not sure if Wessie was the only sibling, I now wonder if “Uncle Bob” might be another sibling, but did not clarify that with Authrean.  I have left her another message and am hopeful that she will call me back soon with some more information.  As near as I can figure, the mom, Cellie, may have lived in Lynwood, CA prior to her death.  I was unable to find any newspaper articles about the house fire or her death to see if other relatives listed.

I am working with a group of volunteers for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Out of the 58,000+ Americans who died in Vietnam, approximately 275 have no photos on file. One of them is PFC John Earl Magee, Co Co, 4th Bn, 47th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division. He arrived in country 9-27-67, and was killed in action in May 1968 at Kien Hoa. John was a black male, age 23, resident of Los Angeles, but born in Bogalusa, La. I am wondering if anyone might possibly have a photo of him that could be forwarded to the VVMF. Hello Gary.  Apparently John Magee joined our Mobile Riverine Force well into my tour of duty in the Mekong Delta, but he perished after I left Vietnam.  I did not know him though I did serve on the USS Colleton at times during 1967.  I checked my September 1967 Charlie Company, 34th/47th Roster and he was not listed so I’m not sure how helpful I am.
