Washington Times: Trump administration officials announced Tuesday that they uncovered $6.5 billion in fraudulent claims involving Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs across 45 states and U.S. territories. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department has in the past two weeks charged a record 455 people with defrauding the government with various billing schemes. Officials said the fraudsters billed for services provided to dead people, ran a macabre skin grafting therapy that victimized elderly nursing home patients and, in one instance, collected government money for a negligent heart scanning service that failed to identify an obvious, fatal condition in a young basketball player. Along with the arrests, the government seized luxury items purchased with proceeds from the shady health care claims, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a half-million-dollar Ferrari and an $865,000 necklace. “This is just the beginning. Fraudsters can no longer rip off American taxpayers,” Mr. Blanche said. (Washington Times .)

Trump crackdown uncovers $6.5B in fraud — and your taxes were wasted on diamonds, Ferraris and a boat named ‘Butt Nekkid’
By Priscilla DeGregory and Josh Christenson, NY Post, June 23, 2026:More than 450 alleged fraudsters — including 90 doctors and medical professionals — were busted for bilking at least $6.5 billion in fake Medicare and Medicaid claims, with one greedy nurse splashing her ill-gotten gains on an $865,000 Bulgari necklace, $594,000 Ferrari and a $4.6 million Philippines beach resort, authorities said.
The colossal crackdown, which spanned 45 US states and territories, was announced Tuesday by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who called it “the greatest combined federal and state effort combating health care fraud in history.”
In total, 455 people were netted — including alleged con artists who blew the taxpayer funds meant to help the poorest Americans on luxury cars, jewelry, mansions, fine art, an NFL box and a yacht cheekily named “Butt Nekkid.”In one of the most egregious cases, a student athlete in Florida died during basketball practice — after the doctor who was part of an $89 million fraud scheme signed off on his cardiovascular test after giving it only a cursory glance, the Department of Justice charged.
A nurse in Texas was charged with billing Medicare for $1 million for each patient she applied unnecessary tissue grafts to, the feds alleged.
Marizel Yukee, 49, of Las Vegas, was charged with fraudulently billing $906 million in claims for which she was paid $297 million.

Massive $27M LA hospice fraud revealed as medical scammer used dead patients to fund lavish lifestyle: feds
By Ben Chapman, NY post, June 23, 2026:
Federal agents pounced on a slew of alleged medical fraudsters accused of massive schemes in Los Angeles — including a $27 million plot to steal the identities of dead people — as part of a national takedown by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche in Washington, DC.
Authorities arrested five people accused of stealing millions in taxpayer dollars and charged five others, including a Van Nuys hospice owner accused of swiping the identities of dead people to fund a flashy car collection including a $530,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom.
In a Tuesday press conference, Blanche announced multiple takedowns that charged hundreds defendants nationwide.

“Fraudsters can no longer rip off American taxpayers,” Blanche said at the press conference from Department of Justice Headquarters on Pennsylvania Ave.Federal authorities suspended Medicare payments to 1,000 people in the first half of the year, and much of the fraud occurs in California, said FBI Director Kash Patel.
“That’s a lot of people,” said Patel, with “nearly 800 by the way, from one state, California.”
Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called out Los Angeles as a hive of hospice fraud, pointing out that federal authorities have closed down 800 hospices in LA alone.
“One of the ways that we’ve been able to detect that fraud is, that in many of them, the patients never die, they live forever,” said Kennedy. “That’s not supposed to happen in hospices.”
The California Post was there last week as federal agents swooped on Oren David Shachar, taking the owner of at least four hospices in the Los Angeles area into custody for an elaborate series of alleged schemes that involved stealing the identities of people to bill for hospice services.
