Switzerland confirms planned US-Iran talks today in Burgenstock canceled

Talks that had been planned for today between the United States and Iran at the Burgenstock mountaintop resort in Switzerland will not take place, according to a Swiss Foreign Ministry statement.

The announcement comes after a White House spokesperson said overnight that US Vice President JD Vance had pulled out of a planned trip to meet Iranian negotiators in Switzerland today to begin talks on implementing an agreement struck between Tehran and Washington to end the war.

Hezbollah violated the ceasefire and struck an Israeli tank, killing four Israeli soldiers.

POSTPONED: The planned U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland were canceled today after both sides halted travel plans, with Switzerland confirming the meeting at Bürgenstock would not take place.

• According to U.S. and regional reports, Iran linked the continuation of negotiations to the situation in Lebanon, warning mediators that Israeli operations against Hezbollah have become central to whether talks can proceed.

• A Hezbollah-affiliated outlet reported that Iran views any Israeli strike more than 10 kilometers inside Lebanon as a violation of the U.S.-Iran memorandum, as Israel continued strikes on targets overnight.
