California Bans 70% of Replacement Tires

Not even where Democrats have achieved single-party rule do they have the leverage to ban the automobile outright. Being progressives, they take a progressive approach. California and New York have been phasing out the gas-powered engines that make cars efficient and reliable. Less ambitiously, California is banning most replacement tires.

In a unanimous vote, the California Energy Commission voted to adopt new rules that will phase out the sale of replacement tires that don’t meet certain energy efficiency standards.

People who make the tires rather than prevent others from using them are not pleased:

Bret Gladfelty, on behalf of Goodyear, told the commission that this will increase costs for consumers and said the commission had yet to resolve technical and legal issues with the rules.

He says the cost per tire could end up being several hundred dollars.

Gladfelty told KCRA 3 this new rule will eliminate an estimated 70% of the tires currently sold in California by 2033, which the California Energy Commission has also acknowledged and has not denied.

California is a pioneer in the realm of suffocating hyperregulation:

The CEC has never regulated tires. It is now the first state to create such a rule.

If it exists, it will be regulated, then regulated still more so long as it continues to exist. That is the Democrat mission.

On the positive side, this will improve weather globally, according to Democrat dogma.
