DHS Calls NY Times’ “Report” On Abuse Of Illegals A Bunch Of BS
This is the state of Modern Journalism: talk to a bunch of people with an axe to grind but never leave your office to investigate
DHS Rejects NY Times Report on ICE Abuse Claims
The Department of Homeland Security on Sunday rejected a New York Times report alleging that migrants in U.S. immigration detention experienced abusive and violent treatment at the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
“Another day and another hoax about ICE detention from the @nytimes,” DHS said on X. “The media is clearly desperate for these false allegations to be true.”
The dispute centers on a report in the Times published Sunday that featured accounts from 10 deportees who said they experienced or witnessed what they described as abusive treatment by ICE officers.
The migrants were among those deported by the Trump administration to third countries, including Liberia, despite having no apparent ties to the West African nation, according to The Hill.
So, the illegals are upset over where they were sent
One deportee, Leonardo Sánchez, a Cuban migrant, told the Times that ICE officers forced him and three other migrants onto the tarmac in Monrovia after they refused to leave the aircraft.
Sánchez alleged that federal agents twisted the migrants’ handcuffs, forced them to the ground, and pressed their knees onto their necks.
“They didn’t treat us like people, like human beings,” said Carlos Téllez-Sanchez, a Venezuelan migrant deported to Liberia. “They can say or do anything to you and there’s nothing you can do.”
If you wanted to be treated well you could have voluntarily left the U.S. Gone back to your home country. Could have gone anywhere else. They chose not to. Did the NY Times’ reach out to the illegals to solicit these stories of “abuse”? And find 10, who do not seem to speak English, who will Complain? Remember, this is the same media who had to be dragged kicking and screaming to covering Obama’s cages for illegals, but, then wanted to Blame Trump for them.
In a Sunday statement, the Times said its four journalists who worked on the story “rigorously reported it” by “interviewing 10 people sent from the United States to Africa and obtaining corroborating information about their experiences.”
Four “journalists” who never went there in person.
