Five years ago, Nike’s stock closed at a record high of $163.63 per share. Today, it is trading below $40. That represents a collapse of more than 75% and the destruction of enormous shareholder value.
The problem is not Nike’s products so much as the anti-American moonbattery that characterizes its corporate image.
They injected divisive politics into their marketing, embraced former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who knelt for the national anthem, and even canceled the release of a shoe featuring the Betsy Ross flag after Kaepernick reportedly complained.
The elitist liberals running Nike have been too arrogant to listen to their customers:
They believed consumers would continue buying Nike products regardless of how the company treated them, what political causes it embraced, or how stale its products became.
To the chagrin of leftists, this is still a capitalist country. That means the customer is king.
Customers do not exist to validate the political beliefs of corporate executives. Companies exist to create excellent products, serve their customers and deliver value to their shareholders.
No wonder moonbats hate the free market. If only government were big enough, it could command us what to buy.
