States where freedom rings out the most!

I was casually watching “The Five” on Fox News today and in one segment they were discussing a report concerning freedom as measures in each state.  Of course RED states are the freest and BLUE states the most un-free in every respect.  I decided to find the report and see what it was all about.  I have attached the link to the report at the end so that you can peruse it yourself if you should care to. 

Some ground-rules of the report:

“The study ranks the American states according to how their public policies affect individual freedoms in the economic, social, and personal spheres.  This country has long accepted that “benefit to others” cannot justify trampling on some people’s freedoms. This report measures the extent to which states respect or disrespect these basic rights and liberties.

This report scores all 50 states on their overall respect for individual freedom, and also on their respect for three dimensions of freedom considered separately: fiscal policy, regulatory policy, and personal freedom. In order to calculate these scores, it weights public policies according to the estimated costs that government restrictions on freedom impose on their victims.”

DEFINING FREEDOM

“Freedom” is a moral concept. What most people mean by freedom is the ability to pursue one’s ends without unjust interference from others. This report grounds the conception of freedom on an individual rights framework. The report’s view is that individuals should be allowed to dispose of their lives, liberties, and property as they see fit, so long as they do not infringe on the rights of others.

 In the context of the modern state, this philosophy engenders a set of normative policy prescriptions characterized as “a belief in the efficiency and morality of unhampered markets, the system of private property, and individual rights—and a deep distrust of taxation, egalitarianism, compulsory welfare, and the power of the state.”

I  love the concept of freedom presented here and the definition.  You can be certain that Barack Hussein Obama, Progressives (Communists), Liberals, Democrats, The Congressional Black Caucus, The NAACP, Criminal Illegal Aliens and all welfare recipients DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS DEFINITION.  This is the crux of our country’s problems.

Just a few cogent points gleaned from the report:

·       Right to work states are golden and are worth billions of dollars to its citizens

·       Low tax burden states are at the top of the scale of freedom and high tax burden states are at the bottom with New York the worst.  In fact with the exception of Wyoming, the highest tax burden states are in the Northeast and Midwest.

·       Overall fiscal policy mirrors tax burden so Northwestern and Midwestern states are the pits and of course that mirrors “right to work” policies as well. 

·       Forget your property rights in RED states as they are the pits there as well.  New Jersey, Maryland, California, New York, Hawaii, and Massachusetts lead the way as the worst.

·       My home state of West Virginia has the worst liability risk in the nation.

·       With all the Liberal crap thrown around, New York, Massachusetts, Washington and Rhode Island lead the way with the worst healthcare coverage.

·       The best labor markets are of course “work to right” states of Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.  You’d think those so-called smart Yankees could figure this out.

·       Overall regulatory rankings are astounding with California, West Virginia, New Jersey, and New York way out in front as the worst.

·       South Dakota is the freest state in the union and New York the worst.

·       The states with the strictest gun laws have the most crime, but everyone but Democrats, know that.

·       The top five states for education are not in the northeast but are Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, Idaho and Georgia.  Maybe those Harvard people polluting the government should listen up.  No offense to my friend Alex.

I’ll let you read the report for the rest of the details.  It is very interesting to see where your state ranks in the freedom indexes, and there is a great deal to be learned from this by politicians, but I don’t think they care.  They just want to be reelected, and at least 51% of Americans, and maybe more, don’t care about personal freedom as long as the government check shows up on time.  They voted for Obama!  And please, I am not maligning Social Security recipients with that statement; you know who I mean.

IT’S DOUBTFUL THAT A COMMITTED COMMUNIST LIKE BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA WOULD FIND THE DATA HERE ENCOURAGING, OR EVEN WORTHWHILE, BUT MAYBE EVEN A FEW POLITICIANS COULD LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT THE FREEDOMS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROTECTING FOR US.
