The Second Entrance Doorway To The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid has a designed entrance through a doorway passage on its north side.  This passage occurs at the 17th level of the limestone blocks, and was originally hidden.  It is now uncovered, and shown in the photo below.

Once the original passage has been entered, it led downward, and then to an ascending passage that was blocked by granite plug, which blocked any further ascent into the interior of the pyramid.  To get around this plug, which is shown in the diagram below.  Caliph Al Mamoun forced an entry passage (labeled as tunnel in the diagram) in 820 A.D., which is the entrance used today.  This allows for passage around the granite plug and access to the ascending passage beyond the granite plug.

But one obvious fact has been overlooked and ignored.  When viewing the Great Pyramid from the north side, this designed entrance doorway is not in the centerline (or apothem) of the north face of the pyramid.  Instead, it lies to the east of the center of north face of the pyramid.  In other words, when standing to the north of the pyramid and looking at the north face head-on, the known designed door lies to the left of the center.  Why is this?  Could it be that the pyramid builders designed the pyramid to contain 2 entrances into the pyramid on the north face?  Symmetry would require a second entrance that lies to the west of the centerline (apothem) of the north face, and that is identical to the known entrance.  This idea has been proposed by Tom Mahoney.

In Tom Mahoney’s photo above, the centerline (apothem) lies to the right (west) of the entrance.  The arrow at the top points downward to the location where the second door should occur.  This location is to the right (west) of the centerline, and is marked with an underline.

If this second doorway does indeed exist, and both entrances are built to be symmetric around the centerline (apothem) of the north face of the pyramid, then the second door should also lie on the 17th level (course) up from the ground, and the inner part of the second door should lie 47.25 feet to the right (west) of the known entrance doorway.  In the figure below, door A on the left is the known entry doorway, and door B is the hypothesized doorway that has yet to be discovered.

The bottom part of the figure above shows a view of the interior of the Great Pyramid when viewed from the north side.  Door B in the diagram might be joined to the known interior passage system, and it might also lead to another undiscovered system of passages and chambers.

Could the ancient Egyptians have known about this second doorway, and referred to it in their texts?  Once possible such occurrence appears in the Book of the Dead (the Book of the Coming Forth by Day).  This text refers to the upper and lower leaf doors.  E.A. Wallis Budge provides the text with his literal translation below.

Could it be that the reference to the upper leaf and the lower leaf doors refer to these two entrance passages to the Great Pyramid?  Regardless of the potential existence of the second doorway, this is highly speculative.

However, this type of occurrence does have support in the ancient texts.  The shamanic initiations and rituals that led to alternate states of consciousness utilized actual physical structures.  The texts were designed to be enacted with an architectural counterpart. It is likely that the Book of Dead has an architectural counterpart in one or more locations, whether inside of pyramids or temples, or in subterranean structures.

Jeremy Naydler convincingly argues that the pyramid texts were meant to be used as part of a shamanic experience, where the initiate experienced an alternative state consciousness for initiation into a higher dimensional reality.  Moreover, he demonstrates that the pyramid texts were inscribed in the chambers of Pyramid of Unas so that these texts worked together with the physical structure.  The texts were not just instructions to be copied onto a 2-dimensional papyrus, but rather were complementary to the structure, and could only be fully comprehended when examined in conjunction with the physical architecture.

Robert Temple examined the Oracle of the Dead in Baia, which was an early Greek colony on the western coast of Italy. He argued that The Oracle of the Dead was a replica of the legendary Hades of the Greeks, complete with an artificial underground River Styx 150ft long.


He further argued that this was the place where Odysseus in the Odyssey and Aeneas in the Aeneid “descended into hell” to consult the spirits of the dead. The Romans sealed the site 2,000 years ago and it was forgotten. Scholars had always assumed the visits to Hades were a myth, but like the “legendary” site of Troy discovered in the 19th century, it has turned out to be a real place.  

Philip Coppens argues that this may not be the original location, but that it may have been one of the locations that served this same purpose.

Several researchers, including Jim Furia, have pointed out the original known entrance occurs at the 17th course of masonry.  Could this be an intentional allusion to the number 153?

17 X 9 (total pyramids at the Giza complex) = 153

This number is referred to in John chapter 21, which is perhaps another text that is alluding to the pyramid complex.  Perhaps casting a net on the other side of the centerline of the north face of the pyramid will lead to another catch of fish?

      the square root of 153 = 12.369 the exact amount of full moons in one year. the more you seek the more you find. there is thousands of equations encoded in the ancient structures around the world. we need to stop asking WHY. and WHO built them, and start understanding what they really are trying to show us.
