New York State Republican Senate PASSES Draconian Gun Bill

In a staggering vote of 43 – 18, the draconian new bill called “NY SAFE Act of 2013″ was passed in the NY Senate. This unprecedented attack on liberty and the 2nd amendment is worse than anything liberal California has ever come up with, and would in many ways make Diane Feinstein blush.

What is baffling is that this bill was passed by a Republican Senate… Further demonstrating that conservative, constitutional leadership in NY is a thing of the past.

This new bill is expected to pass the Democrat controlled Assembly, and the governor is expected to sign it immediately.

The governor had this to say:

“Tonight, the Senators that voted for the NY SAFE Act of 2013 made a bold statement, coming together in a bipartisan, collaborative manner to meet the challenges that face our state and our nation, as we have seen far too many senseless acts of gun violence. I commend Sen. Skelos, Sen. Klein, and Sen. Stewart-Cousins for their hard work on this important legislation.”

The language of this bill has to be read to be believed.

In summary:

The proposed amendments replace the existing ban consisting of and a “two-feature” test adopted from the now-expired federal assault weapons ban with a clearer “one-feature” test.

Within one year of the effective date, all weapons defined as assault weapons under the new “one-feature” test, as well as weapon grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban, must be registered. Current owners of these banned weapons may transfer the weapons only to a firearms dealer or transfer to an out of state buyer. All registered owners will be subject to a review of disqualifiers by the State Police.

Section 38 of the bill amends Penal Law 265.00(23) to ban all large capacity magazines that have the capacity to hold more than ten rounds of ammunition including those that were grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban and creates a new ban on magazines that hold more than seven rounds of ammunition. Magazines that can hold more than seven rounds but not more than ten rounds and are currently possessed will be grandfathered in, but may only contain seven rounds of ammunition. Exceptions are made for large capacity magazines that are curios or relics.

Section 50 of the bill enhances control over sales of ammunition by adding a new Penal Law 400.03 requiring (1) that sellers of ammunition register with the superintendent of the State police (2) that prior to a sale of ammunition, a seller must run the buyer through a State-created review of disqualifiers to ensure that the buyer is not prohibited by law from possessing ammunition, and (3)that ammunition sales are electronically accessible to the State. In addition, to prevent from purchasing ammunition, the bill requires that any ammunition sold commercially must be conducted by a seller that can perform a background check.

This is nothing short of a Declaration of War against legal gun owners in the State of New York… Because the only way they will be able to enforce these laws is by going door to door and demanding to search for contraband firearms.

When this bill passes (it is expected to) If your single and young and can move out of this state, the time is now…
