Big Government – What is it really?

Hello all. With this article I’ve decided to write about BIG Government. It wasn’t until recently that I learned how many people in our nation have no idea what Big Government is or what it refers to. Most of the liberal believers seem to believe that Big Government is a reflection of how large and powerful our government is. Of course when I’ve tried to explain what the term Big Government means, I receive the usual come backs of “You have no idea what you’re talking about” or “It seems that racism has infected your house hold like most of the other conservatives.” As a result of this back lash I decided to look the term up in the dictionary. The definition hit home so hard that I’ve decided to publish the definition and compare it to what is going on in America as well as the world today.

Big Government – A term generally used by political conservatives and libertarians to describe a government or public sector that they consider to be excessively large, corrupt and inefficient, or inappropriately involved in certain areas such as public policy or the private sector. The term may also be used specifically in relation to government policies that attempt to regulate matters considered to be private or personal, such as private behaviors or individual food choices, The term has also been used to define a dominate federal government that seeks to control the authority of local institutions – an example of being the overriding of state authority in favor of federal legislation.

If this definition does not explain what is exactly going on in the country today, we are all either blind sheep headed for the slaughter house or we all have mental issues and need to be sent away. I’m going to take this definition and break it down piece by piece in reference to what is going on with our government today and then we can sit back and look a the similarities. It’s a bit daunting.

Point one – Conservatives and libertarians use the term to describe a government or public sector that they consider to be excessively large, corrupt and inefficient, or inappropriately involved in certain areas such as public policy or the private sector. We can take this section and break it down to what is happening today in our government and legislator. 1 – Excessively large. When the president took office he started micro managing from almost day one. Since Obama took office he has increased violations that numbered 2000 and 3000 page bills. No one knows the full contents he rushed into law but with this many laws and new violations on the books, every American could be a potent criminal. 2 – The first two years alone the administration imposed 40 billion dollars worth of new regulations. Over 100,000 federal employees were added. This was a 6 percent increase of employees to help run the regulatory empire he so strives to implement. 3 – The budget doubled and now approaches 4 trillion dollars. The man power needed was to bring in 38 czars or administrators to try and keep hold of all of the increases. Czars have what can be considered empires. They have total control and no check and balances seem to be in place to keeps these people under control. 4 – These Czars can and have been bypassing senate approval for anything they deem necessary. This is a good example of the first point. The keywords to watch for are excessive, large, corrupt, inefficiency and involve the public and private sectors.

Point two – The term Big Government is used in relation to policies that attempt to regulate matters considered to be private or personal. The first example that comes to mind is confiscation and the personal intrusion of our 2nd amendment rights. Of course another example would be the implementation of Obama Care. Working in the health field, I can already see how this is adversely affecting the common blue collar worker. Not to go into to too much detail, the program dictates if an individual is eligible for certain procedures based on age, over all health and income. Example: My daughter falls and hurts her knee. She is allowed to have x-rays. The kind of x-rays are dictated by the insurance that is regulated by Obama care. The results of these x-rays are inconclusive due to the type allowed and the insurance company then allows for her to have physical therapy. Because the x-rays were insufficient along with the physical therapy, she goes back to the doctor complaining of more pain. More x-rays are allowed and they see with these films that she had a torn ligament all along. Due to the therapy, the ligaments have grown the wrong way. Know she has a choice. She can quit her sport that is swimming or we can pay out of pocket to have surgery performed that will involved cutting of the tendons, letting them grow back correctly and stll she misses a year of swimming. If the proper amount x-rays were have permitted in the first place, the correct form of therapy could have been performed and all of this would have been unnecessary. This is a prime example of socialized health care. Just call someone in Canada and find out why they come across the border for health care.
