Doug Wead Reflects on the Ron Paul Revolution

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Ron Paul may not have won election to the White House, but he ignited a passion for liberty among young people that took many pundits by surprise. In 1988, the Texas Congressman ran for President, as the candidate of the Libertarian Party. Despite being the most experienced of any Libertarian candidate up to that time, he received less than one-half a percent of the popular vote.

Paul went back to the House of Representatives. In 2008, The Texas lawmaker once again entered the Presidential race. This time, he ran as a Republican. This was the first time he reached millions of young voters, who suddenly began supporting old ideas, like returning to the gold standard.

In 2012, Paul went further than four years before, and won the hearts of even more young voters.

From April 4th to the 6th, Freedom Rally 2014 will take place in Orlando, Florida. Anyone 30 or younger will be given free admission to the three-day freedom festival.

Doug Wead was a senior adviser to Ron Paul during the Congressman’s 2012 campaign. He is also a presidential historian and author of more than 30 books.

Wead is our guest on the show today. We will discuss Ron Paul and his run for the Oval Office in 2012. We will also talk about the upcoming festival, and the future of the liberty movement.
