2016 Republican Campaign For President

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Just for the record, I really despise how early the campaign for the Republican nomination for President is already heating up. It should be rebranded as the campaign of 2014-2016. Even before the new Congress was sworn in, the hopefuls were rattling their swords. It’s no secret that Jeb Bush is going to run. Oh, I know he hasn’t officially announced, but anyone who thinks he will not be in the race is fooling themselves. Mike Huckabee has resigned his show on Fox, signaling that he is also thinking about running. The Huckabee hopefuls, of which I may be one, are excited about the possibility of a Huckabee campaign. At the very least the debates will be more entertaining. I am also intrigued by the idea of a Huckabee presidency. I know he isn’t considered a true conservative by many, but I’m not convinced that’s the case.

Enter Mitt Romney. Just when we thought 2012 was the last year the former Governor of Massachusetts would be reaching for the White House, it turns out that his hopes for living at that esteemed address are not quite dashed. Let me be clear about something. I think Romney would probably make a fair President, albeit a pragmatic one. The trouble that he has always had is his campaigning skills. They are almost nonexistent and I see no indication that anything has changed. Unless he has a secret weapon of some kind, the media will likely bury him, just as they did in 2012.

Then we have people like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, etc. No offense intended, but those three often sound like a trio of Bantam roosters, going back and forth. And many people aren’t really giving serious consideration to someone like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He has proved to be a fine Governor, in spite of the flak he has caught from his opponents in the Democratic Party. I wouldn’t mind seeing him give it a shot. At the very least, he would give the Democrats fits with his record of making things work in Wisconsin.

There is also Rick Perry, Dr. Ben Carson, Rick Santorum, Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, and a host of other candidates who are possibly, maybe, or just might be announcing their contention for the 2016 Republican nomination for President. The list just keeps growing and growing. Who knows, I’m thinking of running myself. Does anyone want to throw their hat in the ring as my Vice-President?

I know this is a serious time. The last thing we need is for the next President of the United States to be named Hillary Clinton. That thought troubles me almost as much as does the very real threats we have faced during the Obama presidency. That being said, I almost hate to see this campaign approaching. The squabbling between the different factions of the Republican Party is already getting weary on my ears. Is it just me, or is the oxygen already being sucked out of the air by the preview of the campaign? Just imagine how it’s going to feel after the many months of debates and campaigning that will precede the nomination being awarded to one lucky candidate.

Good grief, I can hardly wait until it’s over already.
