Team Trump orchestrated outrage at Cruz during RNC & other claims
Trump obsesses about Ted Cruz during speech to RNC volunteers the day after he accepts the nomination for president
In the wake of the booing at Ted Cruz’s speech at the Republican National Convention this week, allegations that have been buzzing around in relation to Trump’s evident-attempt to destroy Ted Cruz’s career have come to light and should be explored:
- Trump’s campaign had Ted Cruz’s speech well in advance,
- Trump surrogates sought to encourage boo’s during Ted Cruz’s speech,
- Texas delegates furious with Cruz,
- Sheldon Adelson refused to allow Ted Cruz in his suite after Cruz declined to endorse Donald Trump,
- Trump surrogates are now actively attempting to unseat Ted Cruz as Texas Senator,
- On the day after his acceptance speech, Trump denied that he insulted Heidi Cruz and again questioned whether Ted Cruz’s father was involved in the JFK assassination.
Trump’s campaign had Ted Cruz’s speech well in advance
Donald Trump tweeted that he saw Cruz’s speech “two hours early.” But as reported at the Washington Examiner,
“Sen. Ted Cruz informed Donald Trump on Monday during a telephone conversation that he would not endorse the Republican nominee during his speech to the GOP convention.”
Cruz adviser Jason Johnson additionally claimed that Cruz “made it clear to Trump during an in-person meeting in Washington a few weeks ago that he would not endorse him…”
As also revealed at Twitchy, Trump surrogates had the speech well in advance. One of the most compelling tweets illustrating this is from Sean Davis of The Federalist.
Since the RNC will probably lie and say Cruz changed his speech, this is the text the RNC sent out at 8:21p.m. pic.twitter.com/7g96QDBC4L

If Trump knew weeks in advance that Ted Cruz was not planning to endorse him, why was there endless media speculation, particularly on the day of Ted Cruz’s speech, about whether an endorsement would be forthcoming?
Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn’t honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 21, 2016
Donald Trump did not honor the pledge back in March, as reported at Fox News.
When asked if he would keep the pledge he signed last September, Trump responded, ‘No, I won’t.’ The real estate mogul explained that he was taking back the pledge because, ‘I have been treated very unfairly,’ and listed the Republican National Committee and party establishment among those he believes have wronged him.
Here is the video (Thanks, Politistick):
David Harsanyi of The Federalist additionally pointed out:
“The same day Cruz angered Trump supporters by not honoring a silly, political pledge to endorse the GOP nominee, Trump was quoted in a New York Times interview praising another authoritarian and asserting that he would ignore international treaties signed by the United States.”
An interesting observation from Glenn Thrush of Politico on July 18 2016 (before Ted Cruz’s speech) offers an explanation as to why Cruz was invited to speak, despite the fact that Cruz would likely not offer an endorsement of Donald Trump:
“Yet one of the reasons Cruz has held out this long (apart from his curdled-milk relationship with a man who falsely linked his father with JFK’s assassin, insulted his wife and all but accused him of womanizing) is leverage. Trump needs ‘Lyin’ Ted’ a whole lot more than Cruz needs him as this point, which is why he ceded a central prime-time slot to someone who is so lukewarm to him.”
Trump surrogates sought to encourage boo’s during Ted Cruz’s speech
Senator Ted Cruz presented a clear vision of conservatism during his speech. So at an RNC convention, why did people boo? Could it be, perhaps, that they were encouraged?
Pro-Cruz delegate Kendal Unruh from Colorado told TrevorLoudon.com that Trump surrogates “whipped the booing” in the “middle of the New York and CA delegations.” Unruh claimed that both RNC staff and some delegates were involved.
Kendal Unruh is not the only one who made the claim. Colorado pro-Cruz delegate Melanie Sturm (read her column here) told TrevorLoudon.com that she was by the Georgia delegation during Senator Cruz’s speech, to be as close to the stage as possible. Sturm explained that she “felt the eye of yellow-hatted overseers [RNC staff and volunteers] watching my every applause.”
“When Cruz said ‘conscience’ it was instant combustion, as if a catalyst was dropped in a bucket of explosives. There was instantaneous eruption and people around me were motioning to turn up the volume with boos and shouts of Trump, Trump, Trump, seeming to want to drown out Cruz….”
Some also tweeted about the agitators:
From my seat in the hall, I could see what looked like someone whipping during the boos, but hard to see.
— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) July 21, 2016
Two sources tell me Trump team actively whipped the “boos” at the end of Cruz speech
— Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) July 21, 2016
SOURCE: The Trump camp knew this morning Cruz would not endorse and told Cruz’s camp they’d orchestrate booing if he refused.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) July 21, 2016
What a disgrace Trump whips were whipping boos last night against Cruz. Unity? I will never fall and worship the golden calf.
— Kendal Unruh (@ConscienceVoter) July 21, 2016
With this in mind, consider Trump’s comments here:
Texas delegates furious with Cruz
It was reported that Texas delegates were furious with Ted Cruz and indeed, some pro-Trump Delegates vocally condemned Ted Cruz for not endorsing Donald Trump.
As reported at the Washington Examiner:
“I am one of your delegates, senator. I supported you. And I expected you to keep your word and say that your word is your bond,” Sam [former La Marque Mayor Geraldine Sam] said to loud applause. She then said he shouldn’t have signed the pledge if he didn’t intend to follow through and turned her back on Cruz and walked away before he offered a response.
But consider the tone of some of the reporting:
- “Cruz infuriated the crowd at the convention hall Wednesday night, and by Thursday morning at their state delegation breakfasts, the coffee was frosty.”
- Facing Angry Texas Delegates, Ted Cruz Defends Trump Snub
- aljazeera.com: “Texas governor jeered by angry crowd after he only went as far as congratulating Trump with his presidential nomination.”
- “Sir, I’m Not Going to Engage in a Screaming Fight.” At Breakfast With Ted Cruz, Archvillain of the RNC.
Now consider a video posted of Ted Cruz walking into the Texas delegation breakfast:

As noted at the local ABC affiliate:
“Cruz’s brand may suffer in the short term. But Cruz is nothing if not consistent, and those who know him suggest that Cruz did exactly what they expected him to do. He stayed true to himself.”
Sheldon Adelson refused to allow Ted Cruz in his suite after Cruz declined to endorse Donald Trump
As reported at TrevorLoudon.com, this story appears to be a complete fabrication.
The mainstream media blindly reported ad nauseum that Senator Ted Cruz was turned away from Sheldon Adelson’s suite after he declined to endorse Donald Trump on Wednesday evening at the Republican National Convention.
But the mainstream media once again was regurgitating reports that they failed to vet.
The truth was reported at the Daily Wire and the Times of Israel, who cited Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who disputed the reports. Rabbi Shmuley Boteach also said in a Facebook post:
“I know that the Adelsons did not snub Senator Cruz because I was present in their suite at the Convention sitting nearby for Senator Cruz’s address.”
The story about the Suite snub appears to have been started at CNN, who interviewed “a senior aide” to Sheldon Adelson named Andy Abboud:
Abboud “said Cruz was initially invited to come up to visit the Adelsons, but when he failed to endorse Trump the invitation was rescinded.”
This author has reached out to Abboud:
@Jedileezard I believe @AndyAbboud made decision to change meeting time, then told @CNN that Cruz was shunned. Maybe he will confirm @TheIJR

Trump surrogates are now actively attempting to unseat Ted Cruz as Texas Senator
Is it possible that Donald Trump is so infuriated with Ted Cruz for his lack of endorsement that he would want to take part in actively campaigning against him as he seeks re-election to the U.S. Senate? Is Donald Trump the type of man who would want to take down one of the few truly constitutional senators out of spite?
Considering that during a speech given to RNC volunteers on Friday, Donald Trump bizarrely and incoherently took his time to trash Senator Ted Cruz, revenge is not outside the realm of possibility. During his rant, Trump wondered whether he would be allowed to set up a Super PAC to fight Ted Cruz, should Cruz decide to seek the presidency in 2020.
He said, as reported at the Daily Wire:
“I like Ted, he’s fine. Again, I don’t want his endorsement. If he gives it, I will not accept it, just so you understand. If he gives it, I will not accept it, just so you understand. If he gives it I will – I will not accept. It won’t matter. Honestly, he should’ve done it because nobody cares and he would’ve been in better shape for four years from now if he’s gonna be – I don’t think, I don’t see him winning anyway, frankly. But if he – if he did I – it’s fine. Although, maybe I’ll set up a Super PAC if he decides to run. Are you allowed to set up a Super PAC, Mike [Pence], if you are the president to fight somebody?“
According to TheBlaze, Trump enforcer Roger Stone met with InfoWars founder Alex Jones to “discuss organizing a primary challenge to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after the former Republican presidential candidate declined to endorse GOP nominee Donald Trump.”
If Donald Trump was initially unaware of this scheme, surely he would have heard by now. Giving Trump the benefit of the doubt that he has absolutely nothing to do with it, one would think that at the very least, Trump would request his cronies to focus their efforts elsewhere.
“We’re actively looking for a candidate,” Stone told The Hill.
Trump doubles down on fake assertions about Ted Cruz’s father
As reported at the Daily Wire and alluded to above, Donald Trump went on a truly. insane. rant. against Senator Ted Cruz during his comments made to RNC volunteers less than 24 hours after he accepted the Republican nomination for the presidency.
Here is a small part of Trump’s speech. One has to wonder what is going through Mike Pence’s head as Donald Trump once again attempts to link Ted Cruz’s father to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Why on earth would he revive this now? Trump revives rumor linking Cruz’s father to JFK assassination https://t.co/8VOFO6rsPX
— Brit Hume (@brithume) July 22, 2016
I spent years investigating Pres. Kennedy’s assassination. I can’t believe I need to say this: Cruz’s father was NOT involved.

As Ben Shapiro observed,
“After talking about the success of the convention, Trump couldn’t keep his hands from the shiny object before him: Ted Cruz’s political career.”
Read the entire transcript and ask yourself whether Ted Cruz did the right thing in failing to endorse Donald Trump as the President of America:
If you turn on the television, if you turn on some of the dishonest media, you’ll see, “Oh well, this happened and this happened.” What happened?
Somebody [Cruz] got booed the hell out a place by thousands and thousands of people. There wasn’t one person in the room. Not one. And then they said, “there may not be unity!” Unity? There wasn’t one person in the room who wasn’t [booing Cruz] — including the Texas delegation, right?
Honestly he may have ruined his political career. I feel so bad. I feel so bad.
And you know, he’ll come and endorse over the next little while. He’ll come and endorse. But I don’t want his endorsement! What difference does it make? I don’t want his endorsement. I have such great endors — I don’t want his endorsement. Just, Ted, stay home, relax, enjoy yourself.
Just a couple of things: I knew his speech. They gave me his speech. I knew exactly what his speech was, because when you go up to speak, you have to give your speech. You know, we don’t want surprises, right? So they gave it, they came to me, they said, “It’s a boring speech, Mr. Trump. Nothing good, nothing bad. He just congratulates you on the victory and here’s the speech.”
Well he got up, and in the first two sentences, he added a sentence. In other words, he got up, and he added a sentence. Which could have been viewed as a nasty thing in terms of what he said because it was implying something which is wrong, but that’s okay.
So he took his speech — and you’re bound by that speech, just like you’re bound by the pledge. You’re bound by the pledge. So Ted Cruz took his speech that was done — was on the teleprompter — said hello, then made a statement that wasn’t on the speech and went back to his speech.
See, to me, that’s dishonorable. To me, not signing a pledge is dishonorable, okay? It’s dishonorable. Not a nice thing to do. And I talk this way because we’re all together. We created the one of the most successful conventions in the history of conventions. And the television ratings for this convention were through the roof.
[Trump then spends a couple of minutes talking about ratings, his wife and children’s speeches, and the length of his own speech before returning back to Cruz.]
Two other things.
Two other things, just to finish with Ted because I like Ted. He’s fine.
Again, I don’t want his endorsement. If he gives it, I will not accept it. Just so you understand. I will not accept it. It won’t matter. Honestly, he should have done it because nobody cares and he would have been in better shape for four years from now if he’s gonna — I don’t see him winning anyway, frankly. But if he did, it’s fine.
Although maybe I’ll set up a Super PAC if he decides to run. Are you allowed to set up a Super PAC, Mike, if you are the president, to fight somebody?
[Mike Pence shakes his head and mouths the word “no.”]
But there were two things that he said yesterday that were lies. Ready?
I didn’t start anything with the wife. A PAC, which he’s very friendly with, released a cover story on my wife, who’s this tremendously successful and elegant model, and she was on the cover of GQ magazine. I think it was GQ, right? And GQ magazine is not exactly Penthouse. But she was on the cover of GQ magazine. An artsy picture, but you know, she was a model. Really successful.
She didn’t need to marry me. She was making a lot of money. Believe me. In fact, I had to work hard to get her to marry me. It wasn’t that easy. It’s true. It’s so true. You think I’m kidding.
So they released this picture, which was — to the people of the state of Utah. I love Utah. I love the people of Utah. But that’s not necessarily where you want to send a risqué photo and everybody in Utah got a picture. And I don’t think they showed that it was GQ. I think they took the GQ off, they cut all the stuff out so you couldn’t see it was a magazine cover from, you know, a reasonably respected magazine. And it was Melania Trump. Now, and I’m saying this just to clear it up because Ted says “he took adv —” I didn’t do anything.
Then when I saw somebody tweeted a picture of Melania and a picture of Heidi [Cruz] — who I think, by the way, is a very nice woman and a very beautiful woman, I have to tell you. I think Heidi Cruz is a great person. I think it’s the best thing he’s got going and his kids, if you wanna know the truth. In a certain way, although he’s got good intellect but he doesn’t know how to use it. And he was a good debater but he didn’t do well in the debates against me, according to every poll. I mean every poll. Just a great debater except he lost in every single poll in every single debate.
So that takes care of the Heidi thing because Heidi is a terrific woman but they sent out — Now he said, “That was a PAC. We had nothing to do —” Folks, most of us are political people, right? We’re not babies. His people were on the PAC. So he said, “We had nothing to do —, we had to —” Now, probably, you could trace it down with emails, but they’re pretty smart, probably just used phone calls. But look, it was a PAC with many of his friends. It was a Cruz Super PAC. I think he even said, “Well it wasn’t really meant for us.” It was a Cruz PAC. It was his people.
Okay so they sent out the first picture. Please remember.
Okay. Number two.
His father. I don’t know his father, I met him once. I think he’s a lovely guy. I think he’s a lovely guy. All I did was point out that on the cover of the National Enquirer there was a picture of him and crazy Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast. Now, Ted never denied that it was his father. Instead he said, “Donald Trump!” — I had nothing to do with it!
This was a magazine that frankly, in many respects, should be very respected. They got OJ, they got Edwards. If that was the New York Times, they would’ve gotten Pulitzer Prizes for their reporting. I’ve always said, “Why didn’t the National Enquirer get the Pulitzer Prize for Edwards, and OJ Simpson, and all of these things?”
But anyway, so they have a picture, an old picture, having breakfast with Lee Harvey Oswald. Now, I’m not saying anything. Here’s how the press takes that story. This had nothing to do with me. Except I might have pointed it out, but it had nothing to do with me, I have no control over anything. I might have pointed it out. But nobody ever denied — did anyone ever deny that it was his father? It’s a little hard to do, because it looks like him.
So here’s the story, they say, “Donald Trump and his conspiracy theories, he went out and said his father was with Lee Harvey Oswald, and he assassinated the president.” What’d I do?
So two things. Those were the two points.
So on those two points, he said about the endorsement — And I just cleared up, I think I’m doing the right thing in doing it but I have to do it. Number one: The Heidi thing you understand now. Number two: I know nothing about his father, I know nothing about Lee Harvey Oswald. But there was a picture on the front page of the National Enquirer which does have credibility, and they’re not going to do pictures like that because they get sued for a lot of money if things are wrong. Okay? A lot of money. And there was a picture, and that’s the only thing I know. So now they use the two things as the reason he won’t support me.
