The History of Donald Trump's Racial Bias

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The first time Donald Trump was in the news was 1973 when the US Justice Department filed a civil rights lawsuit against the Trump corporation for violations of the fair housing act. The case was one of the biggest federal housing discrimination suits to be brought during that time and marked a 20-month legal battle turning Donald into a regular presence on the front pages of New York newspapers.

In the early 1970’s based on multiple complaints the Urban League began sending testers to Trump properties in Queens and Brooklyn. A pattern of bias very quickly emerged; white testers were encouraged to rent, while black testers were discouraged and even denied.

During the investigation it was found that Trump employees were marking applications of minorities with a C for colored and two former Trump employees testified the company wanted to rent only to “Jews and Executives”.

The Trumps retained Roy Cohn who I spoke about in a previous video. Cohn portrayed the Trumps as victims and counter-sued the government for $100 million dollars. Donald held a very public news conference at the New York Hilton to announce the government was trying to force the company to lease apartments to people on welfare.

By 1975 Trump negotiated a deal with the US Justice Department to place ads informing minorities they had an equal opportunity to seek housing at their establishments. The Trumps also agreed to take a list of vacancies to the Urban League every week for two years and let the League present one qualified candidate for every five vacancies in buildings where less than 10 percent of residents were black.

And here’s the amazing thing, while the Justice Department claimed victory, calling the decree “one of the most far-reaching ever negotiated” and newspaper headlines screamed “Minorities win housing suit”. Trump somehow claimed victory stating the settlement was in no way an admission of any wrongdoing.

Less than three years later, the Department of Justice and the Trumps were back in court for non-compliance of the agreed terms. The DOJ  stated that racially discriminatory conduct by Trump agents had occurred with such frequency it had created a substantial impediment to the full enjoyment of equal opportunity.

If you’re thinking this was all just 1970’s discrimination, in 2015 the United States Attorney’s Office filed a Fair Housing Act complaint alleging the Trump organization refused admittance to an Army combat veteran with PTSD who required a support animal.

Trump himself has said some horrendous things about minorities. John O’Donnell, formerly president of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino wrote in his memoir that Trump blamed financial difficulties partly on African American accountants. Saying quote: “I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza — black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.” which is a very specific reference to Jews.

It’s like someone with turrets was given a microphone and a platform from which to yell, which is a terrible disservice to anyone suffering with turrets because Trump is like Turrets times a thousand.

One final point, despite those two idiots Diamond and Silk and a couple of other brain dead African Americans still supporting Trump the GOP convention only had 18 black delegates. That’s a loss of 150 minority delegates from just 12 years ago. So if you think the Republican party is about inclusion think again.

If I were to take preference of all people with purple hair over everyone else because the government forces me to, regardless of abilities or intrinsic moral, ethical, intellectual, or other desirable traits ( or lack of) would that not in itself be bias?

That President Trump refuses to succumb to political correctness and chooses to practice freedom of choice as well as freedom to call things as they are instead of as the current social protocol dictates shows me he has no bias, other than toward those who are capable and ambitious.
It appears to me all the biases he has are for and against behavior and abilities.

The true irony is that those who view him as biased are mostly those who have the most to lose if he doesn’t get the chance to fix this mess.

He has my vote. Much as I think the dude is a bit of a goof and a self parody, he is the only individual in this country getting media attention who has any chances of turning america the has been zombie nation back into America, the shining beacon.

      Trump or it doesn’t matter.

        Rockledge,

If you admit Donald Trump is a goof, why wouldn’t you support Gary Johnson?
