US: Humanitarian aid to Aleppo, or there’ll be no JIC. 16 Sept 2016

REBELS SEND MORE FIGHTERS TO BLOCK HUMANITARIAN AID TO ALEPPO – 16 Sept

The fifth day of the nationwide ceasefire felt like a typical day during this war, as fighting erupted in several areas, including rural Damascus.
However, the biggest news of the day is the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) refusal to allow necessary humanitarian aid to the besieged eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo city.
According to a local source in the Aleppo Governorate, the Free Syrian Army and their Islamist allies have sent more personnel to block the Syrian Red Crescent Society’s access to the road in Kafr Hamra.
As a result, the people of east Aleppo will not receive humanitarian aid for the second day in-a-row, unless the rebel forces agree to withdraw 1 km north of designated U.N. roadway.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies have already removed their heavy equipment and military personnel to the Al-Malaah Farms, which is 1 km north of the Castillo Highway.
It is now up to the Islamist rebels to withdraw from the highway in order to allow humanitarian aid groups in.

US Troops Forced To Flee Town After US-Backed Rebels Threaten To “Slaughter” Them

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-09-16/us-troops-forced-flee-town-after-us-backed-rebels-threaten-slaughter-them

The US soldiers were working with Turkish forces as they advanced on al-Rai, Aleppo, in preparation for an offensive against nearby al-Bab, which is controlled by the Islamic State group. The FSA is allied with Turkish forces and ostensibly supported by the US as a “moderate” rebel group fighting against the government of Bashar al-Assad. However, Friday’s confrontation highlights the complex nature of the war in Syria. In the video, fighters from the FSA chant that US forces are “pigs”, “crusaders” and “infidels”. “Dogs, agents of America,” one man can be heard to say in Arabic, while others chant “They are crusaders and infidels”, “Down with America”, “‘Get out you pigs” and “They are coming to Syria to occupy it”. A voice on a megaphone can be heard to say there will be a “slaughter”. The US forces were reportedly forced to leave the town after the protests. The video was posted on Twitter hours after pictures showing men in US military uniform in al-Rai. Another video showed US soldiers in a column of armoured vehicles and Turkish tanks speeding out of al-Rai, which is known in Turkish as Cobanbey.

A voice in the video can be heard saying in Arabic: “We won’t accept any American participating alongside us.” A senior rebel source told the Reuters news agency that “five or six” US soldiers were forced to withdraw towards the Turkish border after the protests. A monitoring group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, also reported the incident and said the US forces had left al-Rai but were still on Syrian soil. One US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that initial reports appeared to confirm the incident. The US defence department has not officially commented. US supporting Turkish incursion The footage is the first confirmation that US soldiers have been seen supporting Turkish forces during operation Euphrates Shield, which was launched by Turkey late last month to liberate border areas from Islamic State control, and roll back advances by Kurdish YPG militias. The operation began with the capture of the town of Jarabulus from IS last month, but was extended to check the advance of the Kurdish YPG militia beyond the western bank of the Euphrates river. The YPG, which has been trained by the US and has proved its most effective ally in its fight against IS in Syria, was ordered by both Turkey and the US to withdraw to the eastern bank.

Turkish-trained brigades of the FSA fought alongside Turkish troops in Jarabulus and in later clashes with the YPG. The apparent direct involvement of US troops in Euphrates Shield now holds the prospect of US forces being involved in clashes with YPG fighters as Turkey advances through northern Syria – although, as the video shows, the US presence is also opposed by elements within the FSA. Meanwhile, pictures on social media showed US flags flying in the northern Syrian town of Tal Abyad in northern Raqqa province, which is held by the YPG. The flags were apparently raised by the YPG to protect fighters from Turkish attack. There is no official presence of US troops in the town. Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said: “We would call on our partner forces not to fly the American flag on their own. I would imagine that that would be communicated if indeed that’s taken place in this instance.”

Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attacks in Damascus

The Syrian army repelled terrorists’ attacks on its military position in Damascus province on Friday, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

The Jeish al-Islam and Faylaq al-Rahman terrorists attempted to attack the Syrian army’s military positions in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus province, but the government forces pushed them back.

The terrorists sustained heavy casualties in the Syrian army’s offensive on their positions.

The army units also continued to march on the terrorists’ positions in other provinces across Syria.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops fended off offensives of Jeish al-Islam and Faylaq al-Rahman on government forces’ positions in Eastern Ghouta, inflicting major losses and casualties on them.

Faylaq al-Rahman and Jeish al-Islam terrorist groups attacked government positions’ in the town of Jobar near the town’s garages and mall, but their attacks were repulsed due to the Syrian army’s strong defense.

The Syrian soldiers, in a counter-offensive inside Jobar, struck Faylaq al-Rahman’s positions near the Tayba Mosque and Teachers Tower and captured five more buildings.

Terrorist groups suffered a heavy death toll in the failed attacks and the army’s counter-attacks.

Reports said earlier on Friday that the terrorist groups continued to shell the Syrian government forces’ positions across Eastern Damascus regardless of the newly nationwide truce plan.

Militants’ mortar launchers targeted the Eastern entrance of Damascus with several rounds.

In the meantime, government positions along Harasta highway near al-Qaboun al-Sina’ah in Jobar were attacked by the terrorist groups’ mortar shells.

Hama

The Syrian fighter jets raided the terrorists’ military positions in strategic areas in Hama province, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

The military positions and gathering centers of Jund al-Aqsa and Fatah al-Sham (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) terrorist groups were struck by the Syrian warplanes in Atshan and Mourek regions.

A large number of militants from both terrorist groups were killed and wounded in the airstrikes.

Reports said on Friday that the Syrian army sent a large number of fresh forces to strategic regions in the Northern part of Hama province to start military operations in the region soon as serious breaches of ceasefire by the terrorist groups continue unabated.

The decision to send more forces was made following the terrorists’ continued attacks on the Syrian government forces in Hama province after the ceasefire took effect on Monday, and after they captured a number of villages which were under the control of their pro-government forces.

According to battlefield sources, the Syrian army soldiers and their allies were preparing to start fresh military operations to take back lost lands from the terrorists.

Homs

The Syrian army attacked the terrorist groups’ military positions and gathering centers in the Northern part of al-Farhaniyeh and Talbiseh regions in Homs province.

The army’s artillery unit pounded the terrorists’ military positions in Homs province after the militants launched mortar attacks on army hardware in the surrounding areas of al-Farhaniyeh and Talbiseh.

Idlib

Syrian fighter jets pounded the strongholds of Fatah al-Sham in Southern Idlib, destroying the infrastructures of the militants’ sites in large scale.

Syrian warplanes bombed Fatah al-Sham’s positions in al-Tamana and Khan Seikhoun, inflicting dozens of casualties on the militants and destroying their equipment and weapons.

Reports said earlier on Friday that the Syrian fighter jets’ heavy bombardments inflicted major losses on the militants of Fatah al-Sham Front and did not allow them to move in the region.

The Syrian warplanes targeted Fatah al-Sham’s strongholds near the town of Binish in the Eastern territories of Idlib, destroying the groups’ military vehicles.

Quneitra

The Syrian Army’s missile units opened heavy fire at a long convoy of terrorists carrying arms and ammunition in Northern Quneitra, destroying most of the vehicles and killing their guards.

The army missile units, informed by army-affiliated intelligence agents in Southern Syria, targeted the terrorist group’s vehicles in Kasareh Toranjeh, destroying the vehicles.

A loud blast was heard as the arms and munitions cargo in the vehicles exploded.

In the meantime, the Syrian army tanks and machineguns opened fire on the positions of Fatah al-Sham in the village of al-Hamidiyeh hard.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Air Force launched fresh rounds of combat sorties over ISIL’s positions in Deir Ezzur’s countryside, slowing down the terrorist group’s movements in the region.

The Syrian fighter jets bombed ISIL’s gatherings in al-Hosseiniyeh, al-Jabileh, along a road towards Deir Ezzur airbase and near al-Thardah mountain, inflicting major losses on their military equipment.

ISIL meantime suffered a heavy death toll in the attacks.

A field source said on Friday that the ISIL terrorist group gunned down two of its most notorious commanders in Deir Ezzur for unknown reasons.

According to the source, Maysar al-Kalizi and Anas al-Abdon were executed by ISIL’s security forces.

Aleppo

A senior commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) was killed in an infighting between rival terrorist groups near Syria’s border with Turkey.

Othman Saleh, the FSA commander of the Syria-Turkey border crossing, was killed in clashes between the Turkmen and Arab terrorists near Jarabulus.

Othman Saleh was the commander of Soqour al-Jabal brigade of the FSA.

Turkmen militants have recently advanced against their rival Arab terrorists in the border crossing near Jarabulus.

Iraq’s Hashd Al-Shaabi Repels ISIL’s Attacks in Anbar Province

Iraqi volunteer forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) repelled three attacks by the ISIL on strategic regions in Anbar province, inflicting heavy losses and casualties on the terrorists.

The ISIL terrorists attacked Haditha and Brawneh regions in the Eastern and Northern parts of Anbar province, but they were forced back by Hashd al-Shaabi forces.

Meantime, the Iraqi security forces in Anbar province repulsed ISIL’s attack on a security post about 160 kilometers to the West of al-Ramadi, killing one ISIL terrorist and injuring many others in fierce clashes.

The ISIL terrorists also tried to attack the security forces in Bou Ziyab and al-Jarishi regions, but they were beaten back by the Iraqi forces backed by the Iraqi army’s artillery and fighter jets.

Six terrorists were killed and three others were wounded in the third attempt to attack the Iraqi forces’ military positions.

The terrorists’ military hardware also sustained heavy damage in clashes with the Iraqi army.

On Wednesday, Iraq’s joint military forces seized back tens of houses in two strategic regions of Anbar province.

The Iraqi army and volunteer forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) took control of 386 homes in al-Halabeseh and al-Boutiban regions in Anbar province.

The government forces also seized a sum of 25 hand-made bombs from the ISIL in al-Halabeseh region.

At least 100 terrorists of the ISIL group, including a number of top commanders, were killed in Anbar province as the Iraqi Air Force carried out a number of airstrikes against their positions.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced that an F-16 fighter jet, after analyzing field intelligence, conducted 11 airstrikes against the targets in five separate districts of Qa’im, Akashat, Anah, Rawa and Rutbah on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the Iraqi warplane killed a top Saudi commander of the ISIL, originally from Jeddah, who was responsible for the execution of a number of Iraqi people.

The air raids also destroyed a large amount of the terrorists’ ammunition, weapons and explosive devices.

Army troops and volunteer forces have been engaged in joint operations to retake ISIL-held regions in Iraq.
