BREAKING: Austin Bombing Suspect Reportedly Killed After Standoff With Police
The suspect in the Austin bombings has reportedly been killed.
According to Austin’s ABC affiliate KVUE, the man was identified in surveillance video at a South Austin FedEx Office store on Brodie Lane dropping off two packages, one of which was intercepted at a FedEx facility near the Austin airport, and the other which exploded on a conveyor belt at a FedEx sorting facility in Schertz, north of San Antonio.
Law enforcement used the surveillance video, store receipts, and cell phone technology to identify the suspect and track him to a hotel in Round Rock in Williamson County, just north of Austin. The FBI and Austin Police Department were arresting the suspect when he detonated a device. Shots were fired by officers.
Multiple local Austin media sources have confirmed the man has died from the explosion.

CBS Austin had previously obtained photos from the surveillance video showing the suspect in the FedEx store wearing a ball cap.

Interstate 35 near the hotel where the suspect was found, was shut down in both directions and is expected to remain so for several hours. The APD, FBI, and ATF are on the scene.
