Tehran says it “cannot stand” conflict at its borders amid Nagorno-Karabakh clashes

The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh addressed clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh in a weekly press briefing in Tehran on Monday.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously and closely following up on the changes, and we asked for detail from the parties [Armenia and Azerbajian]. We cannot stand the continuation of a military conflict at our borders for sure, and we will try our best with of all our power to reach peace at this border too,” said Khatibzadeh.

The spokesperson also commented on international initiatives to find a solution for the economic crisis and the all-out collapse in Lebanon.

”We are in touch with several Lebanese groups continuously and [we] hope to solve this issue sooner,” he added.

All of these have internal usage, maybe it is useful for President Trump, but it has no use for the relations between Iran and the US. The approach is clear. Firstly the US has to accept its big mistake, secondly it must respect the international law and order and their commitments. Third, the US [must] stop this anti-human and all-out war against the Iranian nation and stop these cruel sanctions. Finally (the US) must repay all the damages they caused the Iranian nation by this invasion and the war against the rights of the Iranian nation. Maybe after all of these, [they] find a place for themselves in the corner of the JCPOA’s room.”

Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Farsi): “We are in touch with several Lebanese groups continuously and [we] hope to solve this issue sooner. Lebanon’s issue is terrorism. Lebanon’s issue is the unfair sanctions of the US in the middle of political negotiations of the solution in Lebanon. Lebanon issue is interference of regional countries with obvious agenda.”
