Republicans Kill Transgender Sports Bills

Kristi Noem and Asa Hutchinson got killed for this on the Right.

National Review:

“A proposed bill to bar transgender athletes from female sports, dubbed the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, appears to have been abandoned in the Florida state Senate.

The Florida House voted to pass its version of the transgender sports ban, House Bill 1475, on April 14. The Senate’s edition, SB 2012, was scheduled to be heard in a committee Tuesday, but the bill’s hearing was shelved. …”

Big Business vetoed both bills.

They have the power to do that in the Republican Party. For some reason, Republican politicians represent wealthy donors and corporations, not their voters even though it is a massive political albatross.

FOX News:

“North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum on Wednesday vetoed a bill that would ban transgender girls from playing in girls’ sports following a similar move earlier this year by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. 

The bill passed overwhelmingly in the North Dakota House, which could have the votes to override Burgum’s veto if it chooses, KX News reported. But the margin was much slimmer in the state Senate, meaning the measure is likely dead. Both houses would have to vote for a veto override for such an effort to be successful. …”

Houston Chronicle:

“A bill that would dictate on which sports teams transgender athletes can compete in public schools was declared all but dead on Wednesday by Rep. Harold Dutton, the Public Education Committee chair who presided over an emotionally charged debate over it a day earlier.

The bill drew criticism from more than 1,000 employers across the state and the NCAA, which threatened to cancel future sports championships in the state if it were enacted. …”

This is why our comment section holds the Republican Party in such well deserved contempt. They are correct to do so. What is the Center Right going to do even with power? What use is mainstream conservatism when it has been given power and it is too weak to even stop things like this?

Note: My only point to the comment section and the audience is that the voters are on our side on this issue by a significant margin. Thus, we should blame the politicians for betraying the interest of their constituents.
