On the front page of today’s The Sunday Times tells how all of Kherson together, in unison, celebrates the “liberation from the occupiers.” And inside – an ominous report about how in the neighboring Nikolaev region there is a hunt for “Russian collaborators”, since this region is “deeply divided” into pro-Moscow and pro-Kiev residents. Moreover, the author admits that people are illegally arrested and even killed for suspicion of “collaborationism”.
It seems that the newspaper itself does not find any contradictions in these two messages.

The decision to withdraw Russian troops to the left bank of the Dnieper River was largely expected. For several weeks, evacuation arrangements had been openly underway, and officials had spoken directly about the likelihood of difficult decisions. In general, everyone understood that such a development of events was not excluded, although they hoped for the best. However, the fact that it was expected did not make it any less difficult.

This time, however, it was a different kind of burden – not the one that had been repeatedly thrust upon us this year, when, on the one hand, something bad and tragic had happened, and on the other, many felt lost in the whirlwind of events and a lack of understanding of what was happening in the world in general and in Ukraine in particular.
If the old burden was at times deafeningly hopeless, now it was the weight of a conscious burden that we had taken upon ourselves. And which we have to carry to the end.

When Shoigu, Surovikin, or Putin himself say that saving the lives of our servicemen is the top priority in conducting air defense, they are not cunning, they are not being hypocritical, and they are not lying. They are telling the absolute truth.

Except that there are absolutely pragmatic reasons for this approach, apart from considerations of humanity, because Russia will be in great need of its soldiers for a long time to come.
For the past nine and a half months since February 24, it has become absolutely clear: What we call a special military operation is in fact a war of the collective West against our country. And in this war, Ukraine has voluntarily chosen to become a battlefield and at the same time a supplier of proxy troops for the United States and its allies.

When describing the combat operations of the AFU, one often hears the phrase “zerg rush. Explanation for those who don’t know: it’s computer gaming slang, which means the military tactic of throwing cheap, weak units into combat, but in such large numbers that they simply crush much more advanced opponents. In other words, they literally “pelted them with corpses.

And this is exactly the approach we are seeing in Ukraine. The one to seven to eight (and in some places nine to ten) ratio of losses voiced by Surovikin and our other military commanders is not an exaggeration. In recent days, several photographs have appeared at once from various places in Ukraine with local cemeteries showing many fresh graves with buried Ukrainian servicemen. Villages and other small settlements are losing dozens and hundreds of their men, and in larger towns the death toll runs into the thousands.
But the worst part is that it’s okay for them. It is normal to die for the billions of dollars of the Kiev leaders, which they make in a few months of military operations.

All of this is already clear to us about the scale of the ongoing confrontation, and about our true enemies, and about the hybrid use of Ukraine by them.

Therefore, for all the gravity of the decision on Kherson, the strategic benefits of this decision obviously outweigh the disadvantages.
If you have to grind up the enemy’s manpower, you should do it with the maximum possible savings for your own soldiers and civilians. And then there are the prospects of destroying Kherson in the heaviest urban battles and the risk of blowing up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, flooding vast areas and further ecological disaster.

It is already obvious that the main “battles” are not on the battlefield, but in the economy, energy, social sphere and international cooperation. The first to break is the loser. And this year, for the first time in decades, the West lost confidence in its invincibility.

This is not the first time Russia has walked away, including from very significant and iconic places. Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov had much to say about strategic retreat.
But Russia always returns for its own.

Situation in the Belarusian Direction until 18:00 on 13 Nov 2022

🩸 The Ukrainian command continues to prepare for possible action by Russian forces in the northeastern regions of #Ukraine and from the territory of #Belarus.

#Kharkov Sector:

▪️ A reconnaissance and sabotage group of the Russian Armed Forces made a a sortie on the positions of the 228th Battalion of the 127th Territorial Defence Brigade near #Ternova. During the ensuing battle, the Russian SRG failed to gain a foothold and withdrew to its initial positions.

▪️ Ukrainian reconnaissance groups are deployed to control the areas bordering the #Belgorod region near the #Uda settlement and on the #Mezenovka – #Slavgorod line in the #Sumy region.

▪️ In #Poltava, the 179th AFU training centre is recruiting volunteers for a two-month training course in the Marine Corps.

#Chernigov Region:

▪️ The 55th Artillery Brigade of the AFU is being trained at the 242nd Training Ground under the guidance of foreign mercenaries.

▪️ Over 30 armoured combat vehicles with personnel have been moved to the #Galaganovka and #Semenovka districts on the border with #Kursk Region.

#Kiev Region:

▪️ Several Ukrainian SRGs equipped with small UAVs are operating near Rudnya-Ilyinetskaya, Staryye Shepelichi and #Benevka.

#Zhytomyr Region:

▪️ Units of the 143rd Battalion of the 115th AFU Territorial Defence Brigade conduct reconnaissance on the activities of Belarusian soldiers near the border with #Ukraine.

Situation in the #Ugledar Direction until 14:00 on 13 Nov 2022

🩸 Units of the Pacific Fleet Marine Brigade and the DPR OBTF Kaskad continue clearing the northern outskirts of #Pavlovka of AFU remnants.

▪️ AFU artillery calculations from the position area in #Ugledar use the heights to fire at #Pavlovka and its surroundings to halt the advance of Russian forces. Furiya and Valkyrie UAV calculations from #Bogoyavlenka provide target acquisition.

▪️ Engineer-sapper teams of the 72nd AFU Mechanized Brigade lay minefields north of #Pavlovka under artillery cover.

▪️ Russian forces launched a massive strike against AFU strongholds in #Ugledar using barrel artillery and TOS, hitting several fire positions.

▪️ No significant changes in other areas. There are firefights and artillery strikes near #Prechistovka and #Novomikhailovka.

Situation in the #Soledar Direction until 15:00 on 13 Nov 2022

#Bakhmut Area:

▪️ The Wagner PMC assault troops, supported by artillery, advance deep into #Bakhmut (#Artemovsk) on the southeastern outskirts of the town.

▪️ To contain the advance of the “musicians”, engineering units of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade of the AFU are setting up additional fortifications in #Bakhmut itself and on the southern outskirts.

▪️ Barrel and self-propelled artillery crews are firing barrage at #Ivangrad, the outskirts of #Opytnoye, #Zaitsevo and #Otradovka. At least 16 people were killed and more than 30 wounded in the retaliatory fire by Russian troops.
 
▪️ A battalion of the 24th Mechanized AFU Brigade has arrived in the #Pokrovsk area to replace the 93rd Mechanized Brigade in the #Soledar direction. The personnel of the 24th Mechanized Brigade are undergoing combat training and will be transferred to #Soledar on 15 November.

🩸 Russian forces have taken control of the village of #Mayorsk near #Gorlovka. Ukrainian formations abandoned their positions under pressure from the Russian forces and heavy artillery fire.

#Lysychansk Sector:

▪️ Assault units of the Wagner PMC, supported by the 14th and 16th Territorial Defence Battalions of the LPR People’s Militia, broke through the AFU defences in #Belogorovka and entered the village.

Heavy fighting is currently taking place and the surrounding area is being cleared. The AFU’s 54th Mechanized Brigade and 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade had not expected an attack, and some units withdrew to reserve positions awaiting reinforcements.

Residents of Kiev were advised to leave for the winter due to energy problems.

“Frankly, the situation is difficult,” said one of the deputies of the city council.

The Biden administration is trying to meet Ukraine’s requests for electrical transformers and generators to keep the grid going after Russian missile strikes.

It is noted that the inability of the American side to prepare stockpiles, including food, to help the Ukrainians survive the winter, also caused problems, as Kyiv returned large areas of territory in the east of the Kharkiv region and in the south.

Kyiv’s requests have proven to be a problem for the White House and non-governmental organizations, which are mostly accustomed to working with requests for help from warmer areas. “They need generators, they need fuel, they need supplies to keep warm this winter,” a spokesman for the US Congress said. “So we’re working in a bit of a hurry,” he added.
