Entire Sports Team Takes Part in Psychology Experiment that Includes Microsoft Office Usage

An entire team of college soccer players has volunteered to take part in a psychology experiment. Unlike other sports psychology experiments, this does not involve looking at how skills are developed or the toll the game takes on the body. This experiment involves looking into the ‘inner’ side of athletes.

“We are essentially asking our players to journal”, said the psychology experiment leader. “We are asking them to document what they are feeling, thinking, and other aspects of being an athlete that may come up. If they think it, they are encouraged to write it down on their laptops.”

Athletes in order to take part in this experiment had to go through a rigorous Microsoft Office training online course. The course taught the athletes how to use the Microsoft Office tools that are found on their computers, how they can journal with it, and what they needed to do in order to fit the requirements set forth with the experiment.

“Most Microsoft Office training online courses focus on teaching individuals how to use the software in an office or work setting”, explained the instructor for the online course. “This was a little different. We taught them how to use Microsoft Office as a personal journal. It certainly was a change of pace.”

The Microsoft Office training online course took approximately four weeks. Student athletes were taught how to use Word to write documents and ideas down. They were taught to create presentations in PowerPoint and document information in Excel.

The purpose of this experiment is to see if documenting feelings, emotions, and other elements surrounding being an athlete could eliminate aggression. Aggression during sporting events has long been a problem faced by both college and professional teams.

“We are thinking that if a single Microsoft Office training online course could eliminate aggression in athletes it might be worth it for teams to require it”, explained the psychology experiment leader. “It really would be nice to not see so much fighting and punching amongst athletes. They should just focus on the game.”

The psychology experiment is expected to last seven months. The results of the experiment will not be made public for at least a year.

“This is a long term experiment”, said the psychology experiment leader. “We are anxious to release the results and our findings, but we want to make sure that we have everything we need to let the public know about it.”
