PS Electronics Brings Online PCB Quoting to Its New PCBCool Platform
The new platform extends PS Electronics’ traditional B2B manufacturing model with a self-service route for engineers, startups and individual hardware developers.
SHENZHEN, China — August 26, 2026 — PS Electronics, an electronics manufacturer established in 2008, has introduced online PCB quoting and ordering through PCBCool, its new customer-facing manufacturing platform. The move gives customers a more direct way to price and order standard PCB projects without first going through the conventional request-for-quotation process.
For much of its history, PS Electronics has operated primarily as a business-to-business manufacturer. Customers typically submitted Gerber files and manufacturing requirements to a sales or engineering team, waited for the project to be reviewed, and then received a quotation before production could begin.
That process remains necessary for many complex electronics projects, but it can be unnecessarily slow for a straightforward prototype or small PCB order.
PCBCool adds another route.
Through the platform’s online PCB quoting system, users can configure their PCB specifications, obtain pricing and move toward placing an order online. The system is intended to make the purchasing process more accessible not only to established companies, but also to engineers, startups, makers, students and individual hardware developers who may not have a traditional corporate procurement process behind them.
From a Manufacturing Website to a More Open Platform
PCBCool represents more than a redesign of PS Electronics’ online presence.
PS Electronics has long used its websites to publish practical information about PCB fabrication, assembly, electronic components, embedded systems and hardware development. PCBCool continues that approach with a broader library of technical articles and manufacturing resources, while adding something that changes how visitors can interact with the company: they can now move directly from researching a PCB topic to pricing a board for production.
The distinction matters because electronics manufacturing websites have traditionally served mainly as digital brochures.
A prospective customer could review a manufacturer’s capabilities, materials, certifications and equipment, but placing an order often still began with an email. Files were sent to a salesperson, requirements were confirmed manually, engineering questions went back and forth, and a formal quotation followed.
That workflow works well for complex industrial programs. It is less convenient when someone simply wants to know what ten prototype boards will cost.
By combining technical resources with online quoting, PCBCool is designed to reduce that gap.
Why PCB Pricing Is Difficult to Automate
Online quotation is common in ordinary e-commerce, but PCB manufacturing is a much harder product to price automatically.
There is no single standard PCB.
The price of a board can change according to dimensions, quantity, layer count, laminate, board thickness, copper weight, surface finish, solder mask, minimum trace spacing, drill size and other manufacturing requirements. A design may also require controlled impedance, special stackups, tighter tolerances or processes that cannot be evaluated accurately from a few basic selections.
That complexity is one reason manual RFQs remain common throughout the PCB industry, particularly among manufacturers that historically concentrated on commercial and industrial customers.
A sales quotation in this industry is often doing more than calculating a price. It may also involve checking whether the requested stackup is practical, whether a specified material is available, whether a design exceeds normal manufacturing capabilities, or whether a different process would reduce cost without affecting the finished board.
Building an online quotation system therefore requires more than putting a price calculator on a website. A useful system has to translate a large number of manufacturing variables into a quoting workflow while still recognizing that some projects require human review.
PCBCool does not eliminate that distinction.
Standard projects can move through the online process more quickly, while projects involving unusual materials, advanced structures or other special requirements can continue through PS Electronics’ traditional engineering and quotation process.
In practice, the new platform creates two ways into the same manufacturing organization rather than replacing one with the other.
Lowering the Entry Barrier for Smaller Hardware Projects
For established electronics companies, sending an RFQ and working with an account manager is normal procurement practice.
For an independent engineer or someone developing a first hardware prototype, the experience can be very different.
A developer may need only a few boards to verify a circuit. A startup may still be changing its design and simply want to understand manufacturing cost before committing to a larger run. A maker may have completed a Gerber package but never purchased directly from a professional PCB manufacturer before.
Requiring every one of those customers to begin with a formal sales inquiry creates friction on both sides.
Online pricing changes that relationship. Instead of asking whether a project is large enough to justify contacting a manufacturer, a user can begin by configuring the board and seeing the manufacturing cost directly.
For PS Electronics, the change broadens access to manufacturing capabilities that were historically delivered through a more conventional B2B sales process.
It also reflects a wider shift in hardware development. Professional PCB design tools, open-source hardware, accessible microcontrollers and increasingly capable engineering communities have blurred the line between corporate hardware development and independent projects. A PCB manufacturer may now receive designs from an engineering department with an established supply chain one day and from a two-person startup the next.
The manufacturing requirements can be very similar even when the purchasing process is not.
Keeping Engineering Support Where It Still Matters
The addition of online ordering does not mean every PCB should be treated as a commodity.
More demanding designs still benefit from direct engineering review. High-density interconnect boards, rigid-flex constructions, RF materials, unusual copper requirements, controlled-impedance structures and other specialized projects often contain variables that cannot be reduced to a simple online price.
PS Electronics will continue to support those projects through its existing engineering and quotation process.
The difference is that customers with conventional PCB requirements no longer necessarily have to follow the same path.
For PCBCool, online quoting is therefore less about replacing engineers with software and more about using software where manual intervention adds little value.
A simple board should be simple to purchase. A complicated board should still receive the attention it requires.
A New Front Door for PS Electronics
PS Electronics’ underlying manufacturing business has not changed with the launch of PCBCool. The company continues to provide PCB fabrication, PCB assembly and related electronics manufacturing services.
What has changed is the way customers can access those services.
PCBCool combines the technical information PS Electronics has traditionally published for the electronics community with a more direct purchasing experience. Visitors can research manufacturing topics, evaluate PCB options and, when their project is suitable, obtain a quotation and begin ordering online.
For a company that has spent most of its history working through traditional business-to-business manufacturing channels, that represents a significant change in how new customers can begin a project.
The factory remains behind the platform.
The difference is that getting to it no longer always has to begin with an email.
