Survivalist Comes Up With Crazy Idea for a Bug Out Shelter (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Protecting yourself from the elements when you’re dealing with wind, hail, rain, or snow is vital to your survival, especially post-collapse. Without the proper shelter, you’ll likely die from awful weather conditions more quickly than you’ll die from getting sick or starving.

There are many options as to which type of shelter you can build so you’ll be ready to face that pivotal SHTF situation. Many preppers utilize their tent as a quick bug out shelter, but tents aren’t always the way to go.

Why is that? Well, the portability of a tent is nice, but tents don’t have durable walls that are strong enough to protect you from the elements. A long-term shelter, on the other hand, will be able to withstand harsh weather conditions and will keep you safe when you need it the most.

One survivalist came up structure suitable for doomsday based off of the concept of durability and portability. Wait until you see it!

Bugging out is difficult enough without having to worry about your tent flapping around in the wind or leaking to allow water into your sleeping bag.

Weather is the number one killer of people in the wilderness, and protecting yourself from that weather is your number one priority. Check out this man’s innovative design that’s sure to make the wish list for a lot of preppers.

This shelter is so well made that its designer intends it to be a home for the homeless or an emergency shelter for the government to implement for disaster survivors.

With its awesome shelving and clean design, it’s also a great concept for preppers to implement in their SHTF plans. At the very least, it’s a lot more comfortable than a tent.

Well, I sure wouldn’t paint it bright yellow.

The snow would be good insulation. Or, you could bury it in the side of a hill.

I thought the same thing. It should be underground with a few steps to walk down to the entrance, and a cover over where one would enter the steps such as a mat or sticks covered with vegetation to disguise the entrance. Either way if you have to leave you would have to re-cover it before re-entry.

I wonder why I would prepare myself? After the world is destroyed I of course want to live trough it and suffer? Nah. I’m not gonna choose to live in misery. I’d rather just die.

Is it bullet proof? The others around you just shoot you inside and treat your possessions as a care package?

Haven’t you noticed, new homeland security regulations is that all camping equipment be in fluorescent colors. Why should you be trying to hide anyhow… huh?

    • Josie

Wow, homeland security wants to make we can’t hide and are easy targets. Wouldn’t it be great if the tables were turned and we were looking for them. Well I can fantasize, they can’t take that away…
