Coming To Town: iMac

This November, Apple will be releasing its 21.5-inch super thin iMac on Apple Retails Stores and the Apple Online Store following its other releases for this year. And not for long, the 27-inch iMac will be made available in the market this December. The Intel quad-core CPU, reduced reflection for your bright display, NVIDIA graphics and the new Fusion Drive storage option are just among the features you will be checking out with Apple’s soon-to-be releases.

Design Overhaul

Mac has undergone a style revolution with its display, graphics, processor, memory, storage and more in one technological, feature-packed design. Less is more. More advanced features, more creative ideas, more uses, more techniques employed and more possibilities that fit in a machine created with much less volume presented with 5mm-thin edge.

The Build

The advanced design cannot be executed using traditional methods. The Mac engineers have been challenged on how to mold together the thinness of the iMac structure. The technology design is engineered using friction-stir welding, a process that applies to rocket booster tanks, airplane wings and other critical structures that should be infallible. It combines intense heat generated through friction and pressure in order to mix the molecules of two aluminum surfaces thus resulting in a precise, faultless and very strong joint.

True To Life Display

iMac technology uses three latest spectroradiometers to perform exacting color calibration: one for measuring white point, one for gamma and one to check both. Full lamination strips off the 2mm gap between the glass and LCD thus producing an effect that makes images appear like they are out of the screen. Full lamination also removes reflection of light from the LCD and from the back of the cover glass.
It uses plasma deposition to minimize light reflection from the front of the glass which is the same process applied to fighter pilot helmets and camera lenses. It coats the glass with niobium pentoxide and silicon dioxide layers in measures of atoms creating an output of 75% reduced reflection with enjoyment of vibrant colors. It uses IPS [in-plane switching technology that gives bright colors from any angle.

Energy-Saving and Environment Friendly

It saves 50% energy on idle state with the screen on. It is made from recyclable materials including glass and aluminum, and is free from toxins such as arsenic, mercury, PVC and BFRs. It meets the low energy requirements of EPA letting it qualify for Energy Star 5.2. It has the highest Gold rate from EPEAT that evaluates a product’s recyclability, energy consumption and method of design and manufacture.

More Features

iMac uses NVIDIA GeForce graphic processors structured on Kepler. You can edit HD videos more quickly and enjoy more frames per second for 3D games. It offers standard 1TB of storage that is expandable up to 3TB. You can also configure up to 768GB flash storage for your 27-inch Mac. Fusion Drive manages your storage and usage options. Files and applications you frequently use will be stored in the flash storage for faster access, while those you seldom use are stored on your hard drive. The system learns your work behavior so it can provide you with faster file access, shorter boot time and quick launches for your programs.
It provides you with two Thunderbolt ports for you to connect your external drives, audio and video devices, camera and Mini DisplayPort. It provides USB 3 port for your external connections that provides ten times the speed of USB2. It gives you up-to-date 802.11 wireless connection for your WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. Built-in speakers provide you with high fidelity sound system, dual built-in microphones, 720p FaceTime HD camera, Magic Mouse and the OS X Mountain Lion operating system.
