It was an astonishing match and budding cricketer Mohit Ahlawat became the first player in the world to score triple century in Twenty20 match.
His 39 sixes and fourteen fours in 72 balls has set the level too distanced for others to achieve.
He has earned a fame with 300 runs to put his name forward for the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), the big-money contract.
In a Friends Premier League match played at Delhi’s Lalita Park, the opening batsman played for Maavi XI and reached a remarkable milestone.
He was unbeaten with exactly at 300 and the team posted a commanding total of 416-2 from twenty overs. Mohit reached 250 after 18 overs and in last two overs he added another 50 runs with five consecutive sixes in last over.
The Friends XI managed to score only 200 runs.
Mohit has played three first-class games for the city and in a fortnight IPL player auction is scheduled.
Mohit said, “Yes, I have put my name in IPL auction but I am not sure if this knock will help make people notice me… The attack was good but after seeing off the new ball, I decided to just bat aggressively and was really timing the ball well.”
The other high records are:
277 from 72 balls by Sri Lankan Dhanuka Pathirana in 2007 in a local Lancashire T20 league match.
175 from 66 balls by West Indian Chris Gayle in 2013 in a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors.
