The xChain Fitness Device Is the Most Flexible 10-Pound Weight You’ve Ever Seen

As someone who exercises daily, I know the hardest part of any workout is actually deciding to work out. People make a lot of reasons not to exercise, but one of the biggest excuses is they simply don’t have time to go to a gym.

The xChain isn’t a portable gym (though that sounds like a neat idea for a product). It is a flexible and portable 10-pound weight which can be adjusted to dozens of different workouts—giving you no excuse not to work those muscles wherever you find yourself with ten minutes of downtime.

Now let’s be real – carrying 10 pounds isn’t going to make you a GQ cover model, but it will undoubtedly do a lot more than not committing to any workout routine at all. Flexibility is what the xChain is going for here; it aims to supplement bodyweight-specific workouts from every angle and just about any body part. Made from a zinc-aluminum-copper alloy, each of the end segments of the 28-inch-long xChain includes rubber grips, while the “joints” are composed of stainless steel ball detents and anti-friction washers.

“The net force of an object equals its mass times its acceleration,” explains the xChain team. “Conventional equipment scales resistance by loading you with more weight. xChain scales resistance through acceleration. The ten pounds of xChain have been dialed up to let you step on the gas and slam on the brakes. Starting and stopping the ten pounds of xChain requires serious power, and the harder you swing, the harder you work on both ends of the movement. Start. Stop.”

Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, The xChain team has already exceeded its goal of $25,000 with nearly three weeks left to go in its campaign.
