On Monday, a police officer in upstate New York shot and killed a 27-year-old woman before turning the gun on herself. This appears to be a murder-suicide.

In 2019, Tiffani Gatson killed Angely Solis and wounded another woman during a fight inside an upstate home before taking her own life. Gatson had been a member of the police department in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester, since 2018. She was off-duty at the time of the shooting, reported by  told WHAM.

Gatson passed away from her injuries at the hospital after being transported there following Solis’s death. Her relationship to both victims is unknown, but it was reported that they were related according WHEC news station reports on this tragedy.”

Police found a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun at the scene. They determined it was not Ms. Gatson’s service weapon.

The Greece Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday, “On behalf of the Town of Greece Police Department, I would like to express our collective sorrow and grief with respect to last night’s events in the City of Rochester.”

The New York Attorney General’s Office is investigating the shooting.

We see terrible things happening all the time, and it’s hard to know what to do afterwards. When a police officer does something terrible, it affects everyone. The people who lose someone are sad, and the police officers feel terrible too.
