Hello, we've missed you!! What we've been up to.

Hello dear readers. 3 months. A lot can happen in 3 months. For us an extended blog-cation  was needed to re-evaluate and get all of our ducks in a row here at IT-fam headquarters. Good news, we’re back and I promise, better than ever. We’ve got lots of projects to share and rants to be written but first I want to share with you what has kept us so busy these past few months.

We’re under construction!!
We FINALLY, 14 months later, evicted our littlest treasure from what was once known as our bedroom.  Sleep is at last being enjoyed by all. Zombie-Mom syndrome no more!! What this means?? A new bedroom is being built in our basement to house our 7 year old aspie who is currently unhappily sharing his digs with his 4 year old sister. While we’re busy adding on a new bedroom I figured why not construct the playroom of our dreams in the adjacent space while we’re at it? The new playroom will consist of a built in stage for impromptu performances, a grocery store under the stairs that opens into the playroom via a shop window complete with handmade awning, and a few other top secret projects that I can’t wait to share.

We went VEGAN
Back in November my husband and I sat down and watched the groundbreaking documentary Forks Over Knives. What we learned forever changed our lives and the way we look at the food we eat. For me and my children the transition was fairly easy as we were already vegetarian and had replaced our dairy milk with almond some time ago. My husband had been vegetarian for about 2 weeks at the time we watched the film and overnight became a vegan with the rest of us. I’ve never had so much energy and my waistline sure is happy with the change too!!

We’ve been ROCKING our home biz
Almost 2 years ago we launched our home based jewelery and accessories business, Shine! Couture. Since then business has boomed and what started as a part time endeavor is now a full time income source in our home. It’s true what they say, when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life!! At times it’s been a lot to handle, juggling a growing family and staying up into the wee hours crafting until my hands are swollen. Lucky for me I have a husband willing to sit across the table from me night after night crafting along with me until our orders are all caught up. It’s become a labor of love for us and has sparked our passion for entrepreneurship. If you dream it, you can indeed do it!!

We’re actually keeping our resolutions!!
Last year I admittedly bombed at my new years resolutions…this year it’s a whole new ball game. With our youngest now over a year old, hubs and I vowed that enough was enough and this would be the year we whip ourselves into shape. The shape not being round. Along with making the switch to a vegan lifestyle we are working out 4-6 days a week. I joined a local boot camp which I have found both encouraging and addicting and hubs has picked up playing soccer weekly. Add to that a few cardio and strength training sessions at home and we are on a roll .So far this Momma has lost 3 inches and 5 pounds!! It’s taken a lot of dedication both in and out of the gym but come this Summer I know I won’t regret it!!
