Balls of fire seen over Canada, Michigan, and several other U.S. states

From Dateline Zero - Great balls of fire have been reported swooping over Eastern Canada and several U.S. states. Investigators are looking into what might be the cause; and even NASA’s on the case, according to CTV News.

“There are different theories about what was behind the sighting of those fireballs,” says CTV. One of the possible sources of the light show is Hartley 2 — which is being was being examined by a spacecraft at the time, taking closeup pictures after the comet made one of its closest passes by Earth this week.

But one expert, Scientist Peter Brown, is skeptical of reports that any fireballs came from Hartley. Brown says his meteor group at the University of Western Ontario tracked one of two fireballs while the other was tracked by NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office.

Brown said that the fiery balls’ orbits were not similar enough to Hartley 2. “Those two fireballs, which were seen by two separate networks, were fairly similar,” he told The Canadian Press. “The position where they came from the sky, however, was a bit different and their orbit was only in a vague sense similar to Hartley 2.”

Interestingly, these balls of fire seen in eastern Canada and over several nearby states are similar to other recent reports of strange lights seen around Michigan, Ohio, and all around Lake Erie.

It is possible that these sightings are all related.
