Good morning.

In name of God, the Merciful,

I have separated this lecture to explain in simple form some astronomical concepts, and the problems encountered by the observers, and their inability to see our heavy visitor, coming in our direction.

Gentlemen, I will begin with a simple definition of light… The light is a beam of energy called photons, which arises from the source of light as electromagnetic waves, which spread everywhere. And are received by our eyes and transformed by means of nerve impulses into signals, which the posterior side of the cerebrum interprets as images, by which we perceive what is around us. And the greater the amount of light, the greater will be the details of this image.

If you put a basin next to a small cup in the rain, clearly the amount of water in the basin will be greater than the amount of water in the cup. And so also the human eye, and the telescope. The precision of the human eye is approximately 576 millions of pixels. As for the precision of the largest telescope, the Hubble, for example, it is one billion and five hundred million of pixels (notice the difference!!). The diameter of the pupil of the human eye is of 5 mm, while the diameter of the largest terrestrial observatory of China reaches to 500 meters, in other words, about 30 fields of football, and this is a big difference.

Also I say, there exist many types of light that we divide in accordance with their length of wave. Waves very short such as gamma rays, to long waves of radio. The visible range of the human eye mediates between the infrared rays (which are emitted by living organisms and we can only see them by means of special devices such as night binoculars) and between the ultraviolet rays, which are emitted by the sun, and we can see only by means of special devices, which translate them into graphics. The same applies to the rest of the waves of light (such as X-rays, Wi-Fi waves, microwaves, etc.) … all those which the human eye cannot see except by means of special devices …

For this reason, there are many celestial bodies that emit radiation, which we cannot see even being in front of us, except by means of telescopes optimised with rays. Principally as infrared radiation. For example, to see a celestial body, whose surface temperature is approximately the temperature of the human body, as is the case with our (the planet comet) … which is surrounded by a thick layer of charged dust ….

Gentlemen,

When we look to the sky, we see many stars… but when we use a telescope, we see a greater number of stars!! and so on… the bigger the telescope, the greater the field of view… it is here that many astronomers, amateurs encounter a problem (precision of detail) which is defined as the ability to distinguish between two nearby points… The eye looks towards the light from a distant car as if were one source of light… But when the car approaches, we see two sources of light … The same happens when you look towards a village from afar, you see it as a single line of light… But when you approach the village, the details become more precise, and this line of light becomes various lights lined up with each other.

The same way when we see the planet with tail, through the satellites over the years, and how it differentiates more as the date of its arrival approaches… and its formal structure becomes more clear… But there is another question… What is the apparent magnitude of the brightness of the bodies in the sky? The human eye can see bodies that are equal to or smaller than 6 mag, and the lower the value, the brighter the body. For example, Pluto has an apparent magnitude of about +14, while Jupiter is about -2… and so on…. But if we use a giant space telescope like Hubble, it will show us large objects with very weak brightness, up to +28 mag. … this is in the depths of space … and filter out some of the images that come from the southern sky of the Earth !

Why did we say a space telescope?? because the terrestrial telescopes suffer from various problems, mainly light pollution … that the measurement of one degree, maximum of 9 … The telescopic vision in the middle of the cities is almost impossible, in other words, the measurement is almost 9 … But if we go to the interior or to the desert, the telescopic vision will be excellent and will be close to the value 1 …, Therefore, the observatories are constructed in locations far from cities and sources of light pollution.

But there is another obstacle to the monitoring… it is the atmospheric factors, the clouds and the stratosphere, which reflect much light through the layer of ozone in the stratosphere, and therefore, what is filtered from these lights is only a small quantity of them. … The space agencies are moving in the direction of launching telescopes, and satellites outside of the Earth, to ensure that the view is complete and clear, and is not obstructed by any obstacles.
