KhayaMedia Opens Office in South Korea

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

South Korea is a much organised country. It has experience in constructing big projects in record time and the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang will undoubtedly take the host to the next level.

Seoul, for example, is still benefitting from the infrastructure projects of the Summer Games in 1988. This major sports event made it a global city and this is exactly the same goal announced by the Organising Committee of the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

With the announcement in mind KhayaMedia has officially established its office in South Korea, two years ahead of the Winter Olympics, and Volkhard Bauer, the company’s CEO says that “We will be ready to provide our clients with a wide variety of accommodation options, ranging from hotels to guesthouses and apartments.”

Peter Moh has been appointed Director of KhayaMedia South Korea. He has his roots in the local broadcasting industry, to which he supplies high quality equipment. Peter has also been involved, on an operation level, with all the big sporting events the country has hosted in the past few years.

Jinny Baek is a seasoned event organiser. She was responsible for staff accommodation, transport and catering at the last big sports event South Korea hosted; the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Jinny is proud of her country’s heritage and believes Pyeongchang 2018 will showcase South Korea’s ability to host a successful Winter Games.

After a recent trip to South Korea, Mr Bauer commented: “Accommodation will be scarce in Pyeongchang, so much is clear. There are only a few hotels and very simple B&B’s. Broadcasters, sponsors and even Olympic Committees will need a reliable service provider who can guarantee a certain quality level.”

Mr Bauer’s comment is reiterated in an article published by Inside the Games. It notes that there are concerns about the situation for Pyeongchang 2018.

According to Gunilla Lindberg, Chair of the IOC’s Coordination Committee, the problem seems to be with South Koreans “refusing to build any additional facilities.”

This might see officials, dignitaries and spectators being accommodated in Seoul and travelling 126 kilometres from the Capital to the Games in Pyeongchang.

However, it is confirmed that KhayaMedia is well on track to deliver services of the highest quality and that many important accommodation contracts have already been signed in Pyeongchang. “With our multi-lingual team we are able to support our clients wherever it is needed”, says Jinny from the office in Seoul.

Fact of the matter is that KhayaMedia has a proud history of finding solutions in difficult circumstances. At the 2010 and 2015 FIFA World Cups it provided hundreds of rooms at hotels, B&B’s and privately owned apartments to broadcasters.

For the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio, where accommodation is also scarce, the company has established the KhayaMedia Village; walking distance from the Olympic Park. Here it offers solutions to 20 broadcasters, 4 Olympic Committees and several sponsors.

The above is achieved through intensive research. With the implementation of KhayaMedia’s trusted rating system the company is able to provide a diverse portfolio that guarantees the best possible solution to suit each client’s specific requirements and budget.
