Olympic Swimsuit Tech Is Helping Lifeguard Safety Specifically Women’s
The 2016 Olympics were the perfect opportunity for gear manufacturers to show off their best and latest tech. Some gear was designed to help athletes improve their performances while others were designed more for increased safety. The swimsuits worn by top athletes were no different. Aside from compression, there new and improved technologies were introduced to the field.
These new technologies are making their way not only to consumer products, but also to performance swimwear products designed for specific uses, such as life rescue and water safety. In fact, the technologies introduced last year are helping to improvelargely women’s lifeguard safety while they are performing their duties at the country’s best beaches. Usually women lifeguards prefer to wear two piece swimsuits. Although Olympic swimmers only wear one-piece swimsuits to race, they can oftentimes wear two-piece swimsuits to train; especially during summer if they practice outdoors. Further, other sports such as beach volleyball women sport two-piece suits.
A Challenging Environment
We can’t negate the fact that our watermen and women are facing endless challenges almost on a constant basis as they fulfil their duties as lifeguards. The 15-hour days are already challenging as it is, requiring lifeguards to deal with heat and moisture as well as other elements while remaining sharp and focused the whole time.
It’s not just moisture and heat that they need to worry about either. Salt water isn’t always the best when it comes to safety. On top of that, combining that same salt water with excessive heat could lead to a number of unexpected side effects.
All of these challenges have been hampering our best lifeguards, primarily women lifeguards for years. Because of thin straps and more complex design (than men’s boardshorts), basic issues such as the durability ofthe women’s lifeguard swimsuits are often unresolved. All of these problems have recently started to be tackled head on now that manufacturers have access to better materials, improved designs and various other new technologies.
The Switch to Strengthened Polyester
Today’s swimwear options for lifeguards are more than capable of handling the elements and the challenges they throw out. New and improved fabrics such as strengthened polyester are allowing modern men and women’s lifeguard swimsuits to be more durable while remaining flexible and comfortable at the same time.
There are more designs for women to choose from too. The best two-piece lifeguard swimsuits now offer more comfort while still maintaining a high level of protection against heat and salt water. On the other hand, women’s lifeguardswimsuits with one-piece designs have been improved to allow them to remain comfortable at all times.
It doesn’t stop there either. These new two-piece swimsuitsfor women lifeguards are also more absorbent and are designed to be chlorine-proof, perfect forthe gals working near swimming pools and treated water.
More Advancements to Come
What’s interesting is the fact that manufacturers are still looking to improve their existing product lines to further benefit both men and women lifeguards. For men, it’s mostly the style that has changed each year. For women, we’re already seeing new two-pieceswimsuits lines hitting the shelves. These two-piece swimsuits for women lifeguards from Original Watermen can finally be worn all day while working out without the usual side effects of conventional bikinis.
As mentioned earlier, supporting our lifeguardsis important. They’re the ones who are constantly on the lookout and helping people in various situations near water. The fact that the technologies that used to be meant for athletes are improving the lifeguard swimsuits and other gear is good news; knowing that more advancements are coming is even better.
