Broncos Going with Brett Rypien at QB Against the Jets Thursday Night
Brett Rypien will be the starting quarterback for the Broncos for Thursday night’s game against the Jets according to James Palmer of NFL Network.
Rypien entered Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth quarter in relief of the benched Jeff Driskel and produced 53 yards passing but apparently the Broncos believe he is their best option for Week 4 as starter Drew Lock is injured, Driskel was bad, and Blake Bortles has not had enough time to learn the offense.
Rypien was an undrafted free agent signed by the Broncos in 2019 after a successful college career out of Boise State, where he compiled a career 37-12 record and completed 64 percent of his throws at 8.4 yards per attempt with 90 touchdowns and 24 picks.
He had spent his entire NFL career on the practice squad until last week and the nine passes he threw Sunday were his first in an NFL regular season game.
