Fever star Sophie Cunningham draws praise over career decision
Sophie Cunningham rose to superstardom when she joined the Indiana Fever last season.
The 6-foot-1 guard was already a well-known name in the WNBA during her first six years in the league, but there’s no denying her fame skyrocketed after teaming up with Caitlin Clark on the Fever.
Cunningham joined the Fever to take on an enforcer role. Her veteran leadership was a significant asset for the former Phoenix Mercury standout, but she also brought some much-needed physicality to the Fever.
Last season, Cunningham became a household name overnight after an incident involving Clark. Cunningham got ejected after a hard foul on then-Connecticut Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. Many believed it was in retaliation for Sheldon’s overly physical play against Clark throughout the game.
